Just though i'd say Hello

Just recently went BMW crazy and traded in my Lotus Exige, Mazda RX8 and Nissan Xtrail in against a Z4MC and an X5 for the wife. So far so good, athough someone scratched my Z4MC within 4 days of owning which dampened my mood somewhat.

I must say, it is everything i thought it would be, Looked at Gayman and 911's before i did the deal and i must say i was unimpressed with them.

Hello and welcome! Well I guess the running costs won't seem too bad after owning a RX8 :) My better half drives an X5 also. I'm sure you'll enjoy the car but a real downer someone scratched already :( Whereabout in the country are you?

To be honest the RX8 gets alot of bad press, I actually think it is the best car i have ever owned. and i miss it more the than the exige.

I've driven my mates RX8 and it's a great car to drive. He wasn't impressed with the running costs though. It's a shame cos it's practical, good looking and drives well. Perhaps Maxda can sort out engine issues somewhat for the next gen.

Welcome

I loved my RX8, fantastic handling car and comfortable too. Just needed more power, something the Z4MC isn't short of.

I averaged 19.5 mpg in 2 years, my Z4MC is doing around 23. Other than that running costs weren't that bad. Didn't use that much oil, and servicing was reasonable.

Overall I think my 350Z shaded the RX8 though.

Hope you don't miss the Exige too much!

The Rex was a great car, practical (4 seats), didn't use that much oil and the fuel?, i went into it know it was expensive, so it was no surprise, the only thing about it was that you where getting top class performance car fuel usage without getting the performance. but it's a great drivers car, and alot of car for the money

i'll not miss the exige really,I was getting to the point were i was hating it so it was time to get rid. i knew the love affair was over when faced with the milk run journey i would always pick up the RX8 keys.

It was just too uncomfortable to be used a everyday car. i made the mistake of getting one without AC which made long runs in the summer unbearable. I also got fed up with the performance, unless you drove it close to the 2nd cam all the time, you struggled

I had a S2 elise before that and it was brilliant as a second car and i really regret getting rid.

I bought the Z4MC with the intention off picking up a S1 elise for the summer, but after a month of ownership i'm not sure if that will be needed!!!!!

The biggest problem of looking around BMW garages was my wife decided she wanted a X5!!!!!!!

Seems a few of us came from RX8's!

I agree with all the comments about eating the fuel of a high performance car, without giving the performance!

I personally had a 3yr battle with Mazda as my engine was buggered, managed to get a new engine in mine FOC.... but after the battle was won i didnt want it anymore.....

Hey Chewitt,

I also came from an Rx8, the handling and feel were dare I say it better than the Zed sometimes. Would I go back....not a chance! It would never keep up, the pace is so much more effortless in the Zed.

I'm also from Aberdeen, there's about 4 of us on here, Gareth, Ali and another friend of mine so pm me if you want to join us for a run in the near future.

What colours your Zed?

I have a Z4MC and from Abz too...pelase tell me yours is not Imola Red! :D
You still got to get a S1. Here's my track work horse from the weekend:

No, you're safe it's interlagos blue.

actually you have alot to answer for, once i decided that i wanted rid of the exige, i had a very small list to replace it with, mainly

TVR
370Z
Gayman

didn't really consider a BMW until i saw your's on SE, i thought i would then add it to the list.

Actually got to the point of spec'ing the 370z before deciding on the Z4m.

As for the lotus, i'm still looking for a norfolk mustard standard S1, if one comes up at the right price..........

by the way, have you got any pictures of your car with the CSL's on. your other topic no longer works
