Ahoy :)

Just a little intro thread to say hi and introduce myself.

My first car (a good few years ago!) was a 1993 S-Ltd Eunos Roadster (MX5):

About 11 months into ownership, I had a little too much to drink one evening, and bought this on eBay:

Exceptionally fun and handled incredibly well - especially with the KWV3s - not a 'track weapon' by any means, but all in all a very, very good car.

My recent car history has been a little patchier, with a Fiesta ST (very capable and fun little car); after that was an Astra 1.7D Coupe; the current Megane 1.9dCi has been useful, but is probably more boring than spending an evening with Andy Murray.

I am now looking for a 3.0SE. Having test driven the 2.5, I was slightly underwhelmed, and feel that I will always be wanting that little extra, or something that is a bit closer to how my S performed; I think the extra oomph, M-Sport suspension, and better seats in the 3.0 will serve me well :)

Welcome aboard Hoff

Just a point to watch out for - not all 3.0i models had better seats (by better, I assume you mean the M sport seats?). If you're talking pre facelift (pre 2006) all 3.0i had leather seats, but few had M sport seats. Post 2006 - "Sport" models all had M sport seats, but you will find some SE examples with standard leather seats.

Right then, time to take off my anorak

Thanks for the welcome and clarifying the spec - I'm not used to vehicles with so many optional extras; deciphering the spec sheets isn't easy either.

Just had a reminder why I (ordinarily) steer clear of traders (especially those on FleaBay) - had a rude response to a simple enquiry

For anyone else looking for one, don't bother with this - 'Mark' doesn't understand how to be polite, let alone helpful:

I asked a fair few questions, ranging from bodywork to brakes, and alignment history to tyres - nothing that private sellers haven't happily repsonded to, or above and beyond what I would expect if I were selling.

He told me to look for a new car, not realising that not every 11 year old car has to be a dog. I very much doubt that 'maintenance' or 'enthusiast' is in his vocabulary.

Dodgy indeed - he's just informed me that I need to get a life. Incredibly tempting to remind him that it is he who is working past 2100 on a Monday evening.
