This evening, I saw my MC drive away from my house for the last time.
What a fantastic car this has been. What a fabulous forum this is. It's with mixed feelings that I say goodbye.
I got to MC ownership after buying a 3.0Si because I believed the hype that the Si is the best value - believe me, the Si is good - the M is very special and if my experience is anything to go by - not expensive to own.
I owned my MC for almost 4 years. Previously owned by forum member Senwar, I got the car at just over 2 years old with just over 13K on the clock.
I've now sold it with over 30000 miles added and what fantastic miles they have been.
The only blot on its outstanding reliability being the need to replace rear springs which I did as a result of a pre-sale inspection as a goodwill gesture so that whoever it went to got a perfect car. I hadn't even noticed they had broken!!!
I usually get bored with cars after a couple of years but not this one. I always said there is nothing to replace it and I haven't replaced it with anything.
The reason for the sale is that life moves on and other priorities come along. I wanted the funds to support these but I wouldn't have been sad if the car wouldn't have sold.
I think the car has gone to a really worthy owner (hi Steve) and the deal was struck at a level neither of us was happy with which is always the level where the best deals are struck.
Since listing the car, a day didn't go by without an email or a phone call enquiring about the car but Steve was the first to view it and he agreed it is now hard to find a good example of these iconic classics.
The car has been fantastic but I want to thank everyone here who has added to the ownership experience.
To anyone thinking of buying an iconic MC or even a downmarket paupers Roadster (OK, that's the last time I say a bad thing about them) - do it - you will be buying pleasure on wheels that's better than sex with my wife or even my next door neighbours wife.
One final comment about dealer service. Williams BMW - much improved and they try hard. Batemans - truly outstanding service and good value. Sytner BMW and Elms Cambridge - thanks for selling me 2 great cars for not a lot of money. Bowkers - I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire. Never in the world of back street cowboys have a met a load of shisters like Bowkers and you will never ever see a penny out of me - ever!!!!
Goodbye
