At 6.00 this morning a lovely Polish gentlemen (and his wife) delivered this car from North Wales. 2.5i roadster with 130k and MOTd until August. It certainly needs some work, but I hope to have it ready for some summer fun.

I bought this car completely blind, save for a few photos and really been worrying about what might turn up. How amazing then, that the VIN number is the very next in sequence to the car which I recently sold to bigwinn, which hopefully he’ll be enjoying for the summer too. They are twins!

More photos to follow as I try to get it shipshape.

The coincidence of the twins is past spooky mate!!

Here to help with the breaker and if you clean this one up like OBY it will be a belter!

Why did you sell yours then immediately buy this? I'm baffled. :?
Good luck with doing it up though.
Mind you, with all the interest in Stuart's breaker, you may find it's more profitable to break this one as well. The two of you could work together to sort out duplicate wants.
It may realise a profit that would help you build up to getting a slightly better one?

I suppose until you've had a real good rummage around it you won't know the extent of the potential costs.
At least you have the option.

Looks like you’ve bought a decent set of aero’s there…. With an interesting project attached :?

Looks a bargain

Echoing the above, nice find especially with the Aeros! If you do decide to break it, I’d deffo be interested in the Aeros, though I suspect there will be a line

[ref]enuff_zed[/ref] a good question, to which I do not have a satisfactory answer. Needed a project and caught the Z4 bug I guess :D

Aeros will definitely be for sale in the near future, as I will need to splash a bit of cash on this one.

Like a true vulture for Aeros: pm sent

A true enthusiasts car.

It looks like it's never been serviced since it was new!
Possibly not! No service book yet :? although the oil is respectably clean.

Good buy, even for the Aeros. How does it drive and what’s the interior like ?
I haven’t driven it yet, it arrived on the back of a truck. Starts and runs OK though. Interior is a lot better than the outside, fortunately, nice pair of seats and some aftermarket speakers  will post up some pics.

What seats are these?

Those seats look like the individual version of the comfort seats. They’re not your stock comfort seats, as they don’t have the same central stitching pattern. Worth refurbing, as you don’t see them often

Thanks. They are in good nick except for a little tear in the driver’s bolster. Heated and electric. They’ll be out tomorrow for a deep clean.

What a great project you have there Ben.

It seems you may have been bitten by the same bug that got Stuart and Martin!

Still I can't see how you can go wrong with an early bargain Z4 with Aeros.

I'm mystified by the origin of those seats though. They have some similarities with the ones I had in my E46 Compact, my E87 1 Series and my E90 3 Series, but don't seem to match up completely with any of them. :?

Enjoy the fettling anyway.

I think the seats are the higher quality ones- is it Dakota?

I’ll have a look in that literature Ben

No, BMW seemed to be working their way through the names of the 54 states!

Base leather on an E46 was Montana, E87 was Boston, E90 was Dakota and E85/86 it was Oregon. :?

But with the option of upgrading to New England or Individual Nappa, that finally seems more meaningful!

Sorry to disillusion you, but I've sat in a Dakota and those seats are certainly not higher quality!

And what a great bug it is too.
My good lady encourages it as she sees the reduction in my stress levels and general mental wellbeing.
She has issued three firm instructions though:
1. Don't clog up the drive
2. Don't make a loss
3. Any profit I make, or better bits I find, go into her 2.5i
All seems fair to me.

Not only am I enjoying doing the work but Stuart and I have built up a great understanding and sharing of knowledge (and occasionally parts) which I would hope will be to the benefit of the whole forum.
It seems we now may have to draw Ben into our little gang?

The seats are new england. Have the same in my car.
Mine came as part of the extended leather upgrade.
They are the same as standard seats but just different leather stitching.
