Another Long time lurker and first time poster...

Hi guys,

As above, long time lurker but first time poster! I've been interested in buying a z4 for a good few months now and have done extensive reading on the web, and this forum as to all things related to z4s!

I've got the money readily available to spend, and hopefully this is a good time of year to be looking, but I think I'm getting itchy feet as I'm not able to find exactly what I want! I must be disciplined and hold out for exactly what I want but it's difficult sometimes!

Hopefully the right one will come along soon but for now I'll just keep looking!

One more thing, how far is too far to travel to buy a car??? 50, 100, 200 miles?

Cheers!
Chris

Hi Chris, I traveled 500 miles round trip to buy mine.

Although I know a guy who'll be doing at least 800 miles round trip for his. It must have been a cracking car to travel that far 8)

I'll be prepared to travel nation wide to get my next car. So don't worry about distance. Just make you find the right zed

ps Welcome to the forum :driving:

distance should be no object

Adamski may have been wrong traveling 500 miles for a floppy top though

Must indeed be a cracking car :D

Welcome, I can relate to anyone willing to travel the country for the right car

Hello!

I did about 300 miles when I bought mine (3 separate trips). Maybe go to one of the forum meets near you if you want to see a lot of examples in one place? Some things just don't look right until you see them in the flesh. I'm sure it will set your expectations nice and high in terms of the condition of the cars.

Distance is something to consider though most of us would travel far for the right car but what about time. . .

Probably more difficult waiting for the right car . . .how long are you prepared to wait. . .patient?

:driving:

My uncle has just flew to america, driven a rental car across states 5000 miles to buy a ford f150 harley davidson edition. He loved every minute of it. So as far as your prepared to travel i guess is the answer.

Hello and welcome. We have travelled quite some distance to buy cars, although I was lucky with the zed at around 20 miles round trip ;)

The further you go, the more quality time you get with your Zed on the way back. (Assuming you drive it back to wherever you started, of course.)

I drove 200 miles to find the car was "a shed", but stumbled across mine on the way back!
If it looks the right car can you bare the thought of missing out?

i was looking at a members car on here but it was a 300 mile round trip, then found one in surrey so only about 90 miles so went to look at that but was not over the moon with its bodywork so passed on that. then was driving home from work passed my local garage and see a Z4 sitting with the roof down on the forecourt. i pulled over and went to have a look and the rest as they say is history :D so ended up buying my Z4 3 miles away from home.

Bought my first Z4 in Lincolnshire - which is some distance from Aberdeen but the M came up only 85 miles away ( that is quite close in North East Scotland terms) .

Worth travelling for the right one - but a good photographic record can help ask the seller to provide close ups of the general condition and service stamps.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the feedback! I think it's fair to say that you all the share the same opinion that distance is no object :) it's interesting to read how far some of you actually travelled!

I do have time on my side so I can sit and wait until the right one comes along. My only fear is if I go to view something quite far away I'll be more inclined to buy it even if it may not be quite perfect as I've taken the time and trouble to view it. It's all about self discipline and holding out I guess! Difficult though :D

Howdy!

Welcome from a fellow "newbie". :) I'm also on the look out for a Zed, fortunately Switzerland isn't that big so the max distance I think I would need to travel would be around 200km, but totally worth it IMHO!

Good luck with your search.

Hi there and welcome ! I'm a newbie also.....I bought my Z from a main dealer 5mins drive from home just pure luck but bear this in mind I had some issues with the roof motor which the dealer eventually replaced free of charge but if I would have had to keep returning it to a garage say 100miles away it would have been a real pain !
Just a thought ! :D love mine come rain or shine !
