Another Leather Cleaner Question...

I popped in to Halfords the other day and grabbed some Zymol leather cleaner. I haven't tried it yet but have just read a review on autotrader http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/61721/zymol_leather_cleaner.html where it states it leaves a greasy residue. Has anyone tried this Zymol cleaner before?

I've trawled through the forum and have found various suggestions on what to use (baby wipes!)

My leather is not at all dirty, I just want to keep it in good condition and also retain the 'Matt' finish - should I just use a conditioner instead?

Glyptonite is what many recommend, but I cannot see why a manufacturer like Zymol would offer a substandard product.

Baby wipes are great for removing crud. Use something like Autoglym Leather Cream afterwards.

I have been known to use white spirit for cleaning, closely followed by loads of juicy cream/conditioner as it strips the leather if you're not clever.
 
If it's the Zymol 'Leather Cleaner', rather than the Zymol 'Treat' (leather feeder), then I'm sure the instructions say to wipe it off with a damp cloth - after all it is a CLEANER.

Then you'd normally put the 'Treat' on it to keep the leather fed/conditioned.

I suppose if you're really sure there's no dirt, you could just 'Treat' it, but then any dirt that was their will become ingrained.

I'd pay interest in what the above link says which i've seen mentioned on DW alot:-
Modern Leather - Why this product is ideal for it! - Most leather sold in shops and in all car interiors has a pigmented finish on it. What this means is that the leather is painted and then sealed with a lacquer. It is impossible to feed the leather because you cannot breach the surface and so the oils and waxes can't soak in. In these cases it is not the leather that is drying out and cracking but the pigment on the surface.
So it is pointless using a leather conditioner on such leathers, you need a product that protects the finish. The leather protection cream adds a protective layer to the leather that will protect the finish from all wear, tear and heat.

There is a number of products out there which claim they "feed the leather" when infact above proves you arent.
 
This is what you want leaves a nice matt finish there is no change in the appearance of the seats i have just detailed my car and my seats still look the same as they did when i bought the car Jan 2008 :D
