Another F1 bites...

i loved the F1 when i was growing up.. but now they do look very dated.... shame about one going out in such a way though.
 
how does it catch on fire? isn't the engine in the back of those things?

would feel embarrassing tho, especially after setting the new top gear track time...
 
He was on the Top Gear weeks ago, and talked about his McLaren F1 with JC. Can his car be repaired after the fire???

Personally, I think it's one of those designs that has weathered the test of time quite well. Very much of it's era, however not any the worse for it. Beautiful, in the kind of way a e-type or a miura is for a mid 60's car, or a Daytona is for the late 60's/ early 70's. In this day and age, given the opportunity, I know I still would love to drive and/or own one.

is it the economic relative cost of repair that determines category, or relative physical damage to be rectified?
either way, it sounds like it'll be worse than a Cat D :cry:

edit - for a moment I forgot that these things are often in the 7 figure mark. my bad. still an eye watering repair bill though.

OK, it now looks a lot worse. Not toasted, but the back end is a 'little' mashed up.
 
When I heard the news headline this morning, my first thought was for the car...is that bad given my profession? :oops: :D
