Thought i would share my trip as others have recently.

Started out yesterday morning, leaving S.Devon at 4.45. Going via the tunnel we reached stop 1, Chamonix, at 20.30. 860 miles in less than 15 hours, not bad going.

Roads were a dream the whole way. At one point, shortly after arriving in France, a caravan going the opposite way decided it wanted a closer look at the Zed, smashing into the central reservation, without a tow vehicle, at high speeds. It did its job and stayed well away from us.
The only incident that slowed us down was a crash where a van had gone into the back of a lorry. Police just waved us through even though the road was full of debris, books etc. Lost all of about 30 seconds.

Got reasonable economy on the way to Folkstone, should be able to get 380 miles per tank if pushed.

Car front was flymagedon, so much to the other halfs amusement i got the cleaning products out this morning and got it all shinny again.

Here today then moving onto Lake Come via some mountain passes.

Just arrived at Lake Como.

Was expecting mountain view and to leave car in the car park. Got a lake view and an underground secure individual garage. :D

Came via Great Saint Bernard pass to make the journey a bit more interesting. As soon as we entered Italy it was hammer down, cruising around 95 on the motorways where possible .

Frigging hot here, think there are going to be thunder storms over the next few days.

Currently sat in a cold rainny Bavaria.

Did Bernina pass yesterday on the way here.

Avoided all tolls, so it took 8.5 hours to do 280 miles. Really slow going, averaging 35 mph. Managed a quick blast on the autobahn, seeing 132gps speed, but wasn't the traffic or weather to get a flat out run.

Saw an accident on the oppsite carriageway, 3 cars, one a test BMW covered in black and white camo. Looked to be a CS version of some sort going by the wheels, but didnt get a good look. Front was pretty bashed in.

Car still reading over 37mpg on arrival which was impressive, especially considering a couple of calipers apear to be dragging slightly. Plan on whipping off the wheels today and copperslipping the slide pins to free them up.

Trip now over.

After Bavaria we went over to Dolni Morava in East Czech, onto Prague with a final stop in Eindhoven.

Covered roughly 2930 miles door to door, hitting 66666 not far from home.

Picked up a few problems over the trip. Under tray decided to pop loose during some flat out runs on the Autobahns. Managed to bodge it back up, but it came loose again and required further bodgery once back into England. The tray was damaged when I bought the car so not a big surprise. Had 2 error codes for tank vent valve and fuel pressure valve which could be an arse to get to the bottom of having done some googling. Got a knock from the transmission in 1st/2nd which I think means the shaft to diff coupling needs greasing. And the most frustrating a small stone chip 30 miles from the ferry home which has turned into a bloody great crack.

Whilst in Bavaria I removed the slide pins on the NSF and NSR brakes for a clean and re grease with some copper slip which solved a slight binding issue.

Enroute to the ferry home cruising around 75 the car returned an indicated 41.5mpg which I think is pretty impressive for a 15 year old 3.0i.

Car is now clean and back in the garage awaiting the fixing process to begin.
