Another Boot LED How To

So I've had a strip of White LED's for some time now (no surprise some might say).

Anyway after recent posts I ordered 1Metre of white 5050 LED's. They arrived today and after some family time I've already fitted them.

I didn't want to hack any of the cars wiring so I chose to employ this method.

Take out the existing LED boot light

Remove the first resistor from each side and solder on some tails. After this pic was taken I put a tie wrap round them to ensure they stayed in place.

I then joined these tails to the ones from the led strip. As I couldn't find my heat shrink tube I used bullet connectors. I then fed the modified light down the back of the carpet above the light (easy job) and plugged the bulb back in and then attached the strip to the top of the boot.

End result, a boot which you can see in when it's dark. And a completely reversible mod. :D

I love the very colorful background on your two first pictures, very artistic! :D
As for the mod, hmm never had the need of extra lighting :?

The standard boot light is shite to say the least. Lots of folk have done this mod one way or another.

Liam, it was the one numbered 111. Mine had two on the other side also.

All soldererd in and the LED strip is working. Did your LED bulb itself stop working afterwards? It's obviously not an issue at the 1m strip now does the job (just wondering).

Thanks for the help, pictures to follow :D

+1
I did similar recently but just pushed the LED wires in the existing light connection and taped up (and didn't re connect to the existing light)
What a difference - and like you say easy reversible
So easy I did the wife's Astra as well :)
