Annual insurance charade

So as usual Admiral quoted me a renewal price for my multicar package -and as usual i say i'm leaving as its gone up by 20%
And then as if by magic they go away -probably have a cup of tea or a fag - and then come back with a revised discounted quote which is the same as last year
Why don't they just cut to the bottom line to save this waste of time
Anyway upshot my M came in @ £123 and my Suszuki swift all grip @ £123
So i'm quite pleased with that outcome despite this silly game

They do it simply because not enough people challenge it, so makes it worthwhile for them (much like spam emails).

Same old same old. They rely on people being lazy to make a stack of cash. Tried and tested in the industry I'm afraid. RAC / AA the same, energy companies the same, SKY / Virgin the same.

Only 20% they tried to increase our multicar policy by £450 to over £1k, nearly 40% more than the previous year. After the usual discussion and providing quotes from others i got it back down to practically the same as last year with both cars and drivers for around £600.

Yep, I can vouch for Admiral discounting renewals without exception, I've managed to get minimum 10% off every time.

Good thing is insurers now HAVE to put last year's premium on the renewal notice. So now you can see how much they're trying to rinse you for. They must hate that

Yes i also spotted the old vs new renewal price on the quote haha -so when they asked me how much i had been quoted elsewhere i just made up a number close to the old quote .
Then they gave me some BS about loyalty discounts on my legal protection . FFS -Why don't they just say no porblem well give it you for what it was last year as want your business and be done with it . And they had to send me an email to confirm the new price and change all the documents on line . Bonkers .

My admiral renewal went up from just over £400 to £470. After call get £50 off and £50 for removing wife from zed, so £368 for two cars. Zed com8ng in at £168

Ive just had the same with House and Contents insurance - up by 18% - I walked away. Loyalty doesn't exist in the insurance world !

Can't believe anyone hasn't said it already....you only pay £123 for your MR....how the f is it that low?! Do you live in Fort Knox?!

Happens to me every year with both cars and the house. This year I looked at my RAC Renewal properly and got a quote from the AA which was much cheaper - until the RAC agreed to beat it! :headbang:

And yes, £123 for an M seems like a bargain - I pay nearly 3 times that for my 3.0Si (with our forum recommended provider). :o

lol holy crap, I pay over £600 garaged, ok thats with the best roadside assistance package on any car I'm in and with a couple of SP30's but still thats super cheap, cheaper then my Abarth 500 and still cheaper then my older MX5's which were on classic car insurance with barely any miles per year 0_o

Renewed with elephant at £209, they wanted £258 but forgot to apply my loyalty discount. Must be getting old 😜

Amazed at the premiums some pay.

Now 70 with max ncb, no points, garaged, 6k / annum , decent non city area / retired. Yet still I pay £350ish for a 35is (2016)

What am I doing wrong ?

Take it out of the garage! I was quoted less to keep one of mine on the drive than in the garage  ... now how does that stack up?

These insurance premiums are hurting my eyes...I'm getting rinsed significantly more than most who have commented so far.

I left Admiral in the end, I was often concerned about whether they would pay out in the event of a claim, I've got an agreed value on mine now so at least I know what the payout will be, I no longer have track cover included though...which given I don't track the Zed I guess is doesn't matter!

I pay just under £1000...but I live in Liverpool

...and have mods declared, a £15k claim from 3 years ago, business use, 25k miles a year, no points.

Just been through this with Admiral who have put my premiums up by 50%!

Ok, so we've gone from the 2003 1.6 Civic to the 2005 2.0 Golf after the Civic was written off whilst we were on holiday. Not our fault, third party admitted fault and I had a windscreen chip.

Apparently these now count towards my statistics. FFS!

I read that there are a large number claims caused by people hitting things when getting in or out of their garage, or from things falling off garage walls onto the car.

I had an amazing renewal experience with the Discovery. Renewal quote from LV was £380. Went on to the Meercats and the lowest was £330 with......LV. Phoned them up and told them I wanted another quote to remove the "commuting" element of the cover, but to increase mileage from 8k to 10k. That, I was told, would be £410 !! Went through some kind of weird charade where nothing changed, except the final quote of..........£320.

Overall a result, but that's 40 minutes of my life I won't get back.

If they just increased mine by the RPi & nothing else changed, would just happily pay the premium.

However, every year they make me do the dance... & every year I end up paying roughly the same.

I think we’re the source of keeping people justifiably employed, .. so maybe there's some good in all of it
