Annoying seatbelt chime

isnt it the same buzzer as for the PDC tho ?

firenice: yes and i agree its worth it, but unfortunately Rover lives with my parents so our trips together are very infrequent, altho im sure he found it more comfortable than the Land Rover Defender he's used to rolling around in - he definitely enjoyed the sunshine =)

as for my laptop, that definitely doesn't deserve a seatbelt..

My reasons for not having the belt cliped while going 10 yards to open a gate was made clear on my thread.

Even though, there are 2 sides to every coin, so what happens if the drive crashes, cant get his or her belt off and burns to death in the car?

I do agree seat belts should be worn, But people shouldn't smoke as it WILL KILL you and how many here smoke?

Cheers

Yeah, that makes sense if you have to get out to open a gate.

Bollocks... sorry, but look up the figures of how many people have been saved by seatbelts vs those who have been burned or killed because of them. I like to play devils advocate at times, but this analogy is not a clever one.

...ok this post has gone bad... the point of the post was to figure out how to rid the chime when a seatbelt is NOT needed. You guys have blown this out of proportion. We can ALL vouch for the fact that numerous instances occur where we dont need the seatbelt...laptop, driving to your gate, sitting in gridlock traffic, and we can go on and on...

since were into playing devils advocate... how does scooter death rates compare to car death rates? does a scooter have a seatbelt? yes seatbelts CAN save a life, but so can not driving at all. sh*t, why dont we all just wear helmets while we sit in our cars too...? we could be sure that it would drastically reduce death rates... too many of you are quick to categorize non-seatbelt wearers as "idiots", but how dumb are all of us for driving cars all together when accident and death rates are this high to begin with? In the end, an infinite amount of measures can be taken to ADD to your safety, but not everyone is a safety freak. each to thier own. why dont we just all sit here and flame the whole motorcycle riding community too while were at it?

...and FYI, i do wear my seatbelt! :x

:fuelfire:

highgrade: I knew the minute someone mentioned something about wearing seatbelts, this would happen. I really don't give a damn either, I'm with you on 'to each his own'. We may as well all live in a bubble if that's the case. Take what safety precautions you want, leave those you don't, and deal with the consequenses should something happen.
My only beef is the ones who wreck their vehicles who are not utilizing saftey devices and don't have insurance. Then we as tax payers have to pay for their freakin' medical bills :headbang: - BS!!
So, did you get the information you needed?

The handbrake trick doesn't work on my 07 Z4M R either. Seems they changed it for the uplift

Yeh does not work for me either.

Shame. Would of been handy. (Now and then!)

What happened to going to the junk yard, buying a belt from a wreck, cutting the end off it, and "having a 'test work buckle' for working on your auto while it is parked"? If it bothers you all that much, a trip to the junk yard can't be that much of a problem? Anybody want to manufacture and sell, "test work buckles"?

Ok, I'll take that one... shouldn't have said bollocks I suppose... was just responding (a little over the top) toward what I thought was a silly argument.

Personally I think you shouldn't have to wear them... support you all the way on that. But if you are questioning the fact that driving is just as dangerous with or without them, sorry, but the stats do not back you up there.

No offence meant

My understanding is that seatbelts only affect the statistics for the number of people uninjured in relatively minor accidents. For major accidents, the number of people killed or seriously injured (KSIs) was unchanged by the introduction of the mandatory seatbelt laws. In the UK, I think that was around 1981/1982-ish.

I could be wrong though. And I always wear a seatbelt.
