Annoying knocking

I went out for a blast in the Peak District today and noticed a knocking noise at the front of the car when travelling over bumps in the road, also when I reverse and brake I get the same knocking? Could it be worn bushes or something do with the steering?

Thanks for that, I torqued the strut brace up, that seemed pretty tight anyway but the three bolts on the suspension bulkheads (if that's what you call them?) we're quite loose so I have torqued these up, see how she goes later in the week...

Ok, all sorted I think, after a good inspection on the ramp the rear bush on the lower front wishbone (nearside) was kaput, wishbone had a lot of movement in it so that as been replaced and fingers crossed its driving without any noise issue this afternoon...
