Angel eyes before and after new bulbs

While I think the light on the left looks better, I can't help thinking that the one on the right is more obvious with the original bulb and will be seen better by pedestrians and other motorists.

Well my new bulbs arrived this morning and i have to say i am a little disappointed. Please don't think i am blaming you All Pina, it's no fault of yours at all. The replacement bulbs i originally put in the car (Cosmos Blue White) are slightly better in my opinion. The Super White are a notable improvement on the original BMW bulbs, but in my opinion they still have a very slight yellow tinge in them, especially the outer Angel Eyes. The Cosmos Blue Whites are probably not quite as bright as the Super White bulbs, but both Angel Eyes are completely non yellow looking as far as i can tell.
If i had purchased the Super White bulbs without trying the Cosmos Blues White bulbs first i would have been very happy, but in my opinion the Cosmos Blue White are a better looking bulb.

The pictures below are not too good sorry so they don't quite get my point across.

This picture shows both sides with Cosmos Blue White Bulbs.

HIDS-Direct won't allow me to return the Super White bulbs as the package has been opened, but i have managed to put the bulbs back in without you being able to tell that the package has been opened, so if anyone wants to buy them from me please let me know. They cost £14.49 including P & P so that's all i shall charge.

And the Cosmos blue don't cause any error messages?

I have the Super White, which look ok, but I agree, they could be whiter....

I must be the only one that thinks the origional orange look angel eyes actually look better! Especially on a black car! Looks meaner IMHO! 8)

Breaker, you must still have your bedroom painted Magnolia then! 8)

I've had the Cosmos Blue White bulbs on the car since August and no error messages have appeared.

@KSY10 - can you just confirm your switch setting when you took photos. DRLs selected in settings menu and master light switch in Auto mode not sides?

I have just been out again to the car park and mine "seem" to be so much brighter. Maybe the brightness of your car and the darker shade of mine does soemthing to exposue in camera??? :?

Sorry to sound like a complete idiot, but I'm not familiar with "DRLs selected in settings menu and master light switch in Auto mode not sides" sorry. The lights switch to the right of the steering wheel was set to 0 when i took the pictures. I will get the manual out when i get 5 minutes and check what the setting on my car are.

Right iv'e checked the cars settings. It is set to DRLs on, and i now realise that "master light switch in Auto mode not sides" means that the circular lights switch to the right of the steering wheel needs to be set at 0 (12 o'clock).
Just to confirm my pictures were taken with DRLs on, and light switch in auto.
Your theory All Pina about our light and dark car colours could well be a factor.

I also still have the OEM blubs. I'm not very comfortable with non-EU approved ones.

No worries @KSY10 - and sorry for confusing lingo - should just have said "did you have just sides on"

Hey ho ...

No need to apologize, it was my stupidity not your confusing lingo.

Here are the Cosmos Blue White bulbs at dusk.

Each to his/her own Ksher :D . I think TUV approval would only cover use of bulbs as principal headlights/fog lights - not sure about as DRLs and most are LED now anyway.

EDIT: Just found this which is interesting - DRLs compulsory on all new cars now! So I guess there will be an EU standard for luminosity and energy consumption. I suspect any facelift E89 will get LED halos like new X3 etc?

Hey did you photochop your reg plate of have you got one of those anti speed cam coatings? :D :D :D

I genuinely fluked it looking like that using windows paint, and i have now idea how. All the other ones i have done are just white, but that one looks completely different somehow.

Nothing wrong with magnolia!! :?

I do prefer them as the new 3 Series with the LED angel lights are so white/bright they can loose the angel eye look from a distance! They just look like dipped main beams! Interesting that the Series 1M has the orange angel lights stil! Obviously the faster range of BMW cars have the orange ones! :P

Funny, spent some time at the dealer today while waiting for them to complete a "customer enhancement" i.e. recall for the rear vent on my car as apparently the existing one may allow water into the boot. Not sure how this is a "customer enhancement!" anyway...was looking at the new LED DRL's on a new shape 6 series and a funny thing happened, I decided I agree with Breaker, I actually prefer the yellow DRL's. Talking to the sales guy, he said the same. We both agreed it is just more distintive with xenons. He used to work for Audi and said that with every VAG car getting the Christmas Tree look, he hopes BMW know when to stop!
