Android vs Apple

Well I'd like to think I am unbiased when writing about such Matters, but I think I am ready to come out of the closet and say that i prefer Android. Ok the App debate is a recognised argument l agree but everything else about Android is better. love the customised home screens and the way I can write the text on here with a pen on the screen on my Note and it changes it into text! The Samsung 10.1 tab is better looking than the ipad too. And so much better value. I love Apple granted, but I think the time has come for a change!!

Quality is a little lower grade I will admit..but in every other way I really think they are better looking and perform better. The mini iPad went this week and now my iPad 4 is going too!

I'm unbiased as well. I love Apple more than Android. Apple is so easy to use.

Admittedly, I've never used an Android device.....

I use Android phones purely because they are usually the only thing they give me free on my cheap mobile deal. Have used Apple computers for years due to working in the design industry where they are used by everyone. Thought the iPod touch/iPhone was fantastic when it came out it was 100% revolutionary. Bought an iPad last year as pulling the laptop out just to go online was a pain in the bum. I can honestly say that my current phone, Samsung Galaxy S3 is a better user experience than the iPad in every way apart from screen size obviously. Going from the latest Android to IOS feels a bit like losing your right arm.

Most important thing for me is having a complete eco system that works. For the last 7 years Apples has been bullet proof for me. Would only ever use Apple in my industry.

Think this boredom thing is overrated. If you don't rely on your devices then I dont see a problem. But for work in the creative industry its all I use.

I still dont see the point of a tablets. They dont help at all unless you are showing clients work. If you have a Macbook pro then you can work with industry standard aps on the move and show clients work. No tablets offer anywhere near that, plus if you have an iphone then that works the same... but smaller.

Anyway I understand the removal from the PC age with tablets for people that just need browsing and email and they do a great job, but they are expensive commodities.

Android are moving quick and I really like the Nokia Lumina but I am very content with my system. It works looks great I dont need anything else.

Plus I wouldn't quite loose all faith in Apple... they are always 2 steps ahead and im sure the next reincarnation will blow the comp away again as they are only just catching up.

Windows 8 mobile is very good - but I don't see these taking off apart from large companies using them

My Samsung galaxy s3 is pretty good,

I had one of the first few HTC"s running android a few years back and it was pretty slow and compared to the iphone at the time was nowhere near as good

The galaxy in comparison to the gf's iphone 5 there is no difference between them. Just weather you like android or ios
Oh and paying over the top for the same product

Tom we are both Apple fans. Always have been. And l will really miss iTunes and movies / music etc but believe me this Galaxy note is amazing!

/ do think tablets are a very good addition to the market. I never use a laptop anymore.

Apple has a niche in the creative industry, but all the major software apps are available on Windows and Apple and I know a few design houses running on Windows now to keep their hardware acquisition costs down. They have zero issues with data exchange to production shops etc as the file format is the same.

I considered getting a MBP for mobile use, but the cost of changing/doubling up on Adobe software licenses from one platform to another is prohibitive.

I just purchased an Asus Transformer Infinity TF700 tablet/keyboard combo, and I really like the Android ice cream sandwich version, as well as the incredible picture and tactile screen the Asus offers.

Although I wouldn't give it a win over th OS, it's Apple's lack of intergrated connectors (HDMI, SD Card,etc...) that pushed me away. Asus hit it right on the nail by offering a machine that can transform into a mini laptop, bringing all of the valuable connectors (for me anyway) to the game.

I predict that Android will win the market share war over time (in the mobile arena), by having it available to all manufacturers, unlike Apple's proprietary approach on everything they do. Just remember Sony's take on Betamax. Was it better than VHS? Yes, in every way, but universality of the VHS still ended up winning that one.

I think Samsung need to follow Asus on their design process. once they had done that, then great. However 1 do agree that Apple set the bar and will be great to see what they do next

I think apple should bring out a camera

Based on Canons EF system would be an epic combo.

Iv got and iphone and a airbook, i just wish they had a camera that took great pics and was easy to download to these devices or was linked to icloud. I also have two newish laptops (samsung and toshiba) that now just gather dust........

My conclusion, to all of these thread on Z4-forum is that most people on here love to tinker with things... Apple isnt for you, android/windows allows you to do so much easier. If you want a good ecosystem that just works and enables you to do what you do best without worry then it is for you, and that you dont mind being in a closed system.

But thats where Apples system works by being in control they make sure that everything works without issue instead of third parties making poor aps that crash or dont work properly. The closed system frustrates many.... most on here.

Its been the same since the dawn of time with Apple and they will not change so there is no point in being frustrated.

When Apple allow the iPad to grow it will be brilliant. Make it a proper creative tool... Buy adobe which they have been secretly trying to do for years. Make the whole creative suite available in tablet form with a drawing/editing tool like a pen and it will sell even better. Add lightroom to that with better integration for export and it will be brilliant.

A real homologation creative tool.

The thing with computers and cameras etc is that if you are making money with them they pay for themselves so buying isnt a problem for most.

But for consumers I understand the price quibbles but then again you aren't just buying a good OS you are buying a product which has been agonised over not just in the design process, but the materials and the manufacturing process. You dont get that anywhere else.

| am toying with the option of Keeping both. IPad and tab 10.1 and the galaxy too.

Maybe mini ipad 3G for the cards

I can't keep up with you Stark!

me, I'm and Android user (Galaxy S3 and ASUS transformer Infinity) because I like to change a device to how I want, not how someone thinks I want it...

I've used my bosses' iPhones and can't really see any advantage over the android system...

I've had an iPhone 4 for the past 2 years and was all set to upgrade to the 5... until it was released, what a disappointment. Will be getting a Galaxy S4 when launced next year. Apple were once ahead of the game, now I feel they are playing catch up.

Back in the '80s it was Spectrum or Commodore, then Atari ST vs. Amiga, PC against Mac, and now it filters down to mobile devices. I think I'll refrain from making any comments, wait for five years or so, and let history judge the case.
