Android Tablets

Advent Vega is fantastic value, if you can find one.
Appalling screen though. Never understand why people would even consider a tablet that has a horrible display.
I have to disagree. While the viewing angle is not the greatest, the quality of the display is no worse than my iPad (not my choice - work made me have one) or my WIndows 7 tablet. It is certainly not "horrible" by any means.

The cut-priced iPad 2 has to be the best option for anyone looking for a cheaper large-screen tablet.
And I can never understand why anybody would buy such an over-priced under-specced fashion item, especially when you cannot even choose what applications or operating system you will run on it (not to mention the inability to run Flash, lack of USB sockets, non user replaceable battery, etc, etc)

Flash is old technology. Watch it being phased out this year.....

What on earth did we do before tablets came out!!!??? I'm surgically attached to mine!!
So am I.

What did we do?
We had a life. Bought real magazines/newspapers.

I really need a detox from gadgets.

Nobody wants that crap though.

Over-priced and underspeced? I'm not really sure what that means. I can play high def movies on my iPad (AV Player will play almost any format), make it through an entire day of use, and be simple to use. If it can do everything you want it to do, what does it matter what's under the hood?

Choose apps and OS? Well I certainly have an excellent selection of apps for my iPad, and I struggle to think of any mainstream tablets that give you OS selection....

I cannot wait until Flash is banished from the internet, it's awful on any platform.

No user replaceable battery? I can't remember the last time I carried around a spare battery for a mobile device, especially for one that lasts all day without issue.

USB would be nice, but I use my SD adaptor so infrequently with my iPad it's not much of a chore to have it in my bag.

Things I love about the iPad is composite output (perfect for watching videos in motels and hotels while travelling), easy syncing of my music (and the ability to purchase on my iPhone and have it auto download on my iPad is great), the 2048x1536 display on the new iPad, and the simple fact that everything just works.

I swear this whole Apple / Android / Microsoft / Google rivalry has awoken a new human instinct to defend your purchases, makes me smile :)

Quite simple for me - I watched most of the Snooker over the last fortnight with Flash.. saying Flash is "awful" or doomed or whatever, is blindly missing the point. The whole "Apps" phad is only because Safari can't do what a basic £150 netbook does with Chrome so they had to get around it.. get a browser that works with every website & why do you need apps?

Anyways Im glad the majority follows the herd, just like our wonderful cars it allows us to be different when most others have a focus or an astra.

.

Psychologists call this 'cognitive dissonance' :)
