Android Dash Display Screen

A couple of photos I've received today.

We're not going to get much more info over the next couple of weeks though due to it being Chinese New Year.
I will keep this post updated with whatever I find out as soon as I do

Looks really interesting. I presume there isn't a flip up version for people who already have iDrive, it's just a straight replacement with this one that stands there permanently? Or are the screens interchangeable with the existing iDrive screen and you keep the motorised flip lid?

It appears that the screen is a straight replacement if you have idrive and that stands fixed, No motorised option.
I'm still not clear on this. If you have iDrive with a flip screen (which I thought all of them were on the E89?) does this model have the same function? I know sticky-uppy screens are all the thing at the moment (thanks Audi and Mazda... ) but I kinda like the fold down feature.
Edit - re-reading your comment above, it looks like no fold-down option.

For clarity....

If you currently have iDrive then you would remove your folding screen completely and replace it with this fixed position screen, all of your normal functions will work just as before plus the new ones delivered by the Android system either via the touch-screen or your current iDrive controller knob.
If you DON'T currently have iDrive then this will replace the cubby-hole and will add loads of features you don't currently have. Then once they have finished the design there will be the iDrive style control unit to fit into the centre console.

Interesting.

I would like to see how the interface works with the controller.

If it could run apple car play, that would be amazing.
Take a look at this, although this is the current e90 series it's the same ** Please note that as this was a non-iDrive e90 originally then this is the rotary controller supplied and not a BMW OEM one although it functions the same.

Apple Car Play is an optional add-on

Thank you, crystal clear now  . If you didn't have iDrive this seems like a seriously good add-on. And if you have an original, non-updated iDrive it could also be worthwhile to add in all the extra features.
Certainly looks promising.

I'll go with the solution mentioned here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=111779

I only need the screen to display my mobile, which is already there using a CD adapter

one only needs a mobile supporting USB-C Alt Mode to output HDMI signal and using e.g. this adapter to connect the mobile and the CIC video device: https://www.amazon.com/Charging-Thunderbolt-Compatible-TECHDOTY-Adapter/dp/B078J27WTB - USB C to HDMI Cable with PD Charging Port (so you can charge your mobile while sending the HDMI signal)

Looks really cool, I am excited to see this fitted in a Z.

Perhaps if someone makes a success of it, we can all do a group order for some discount!

I don’t have idrive, so would be a worthwhile addon.

I dont think I would replace stock idrive with it however, if I did have it.

I would also be interested also but not buying direct from China or a Facebook company.
There are people who have swapped out the screens in other BMWs that have idrive fitted as there are more features with this.
Im not sure if this has been said or not but does this also have the capability to store music in a hard drive the same as idrive cars?

I've had a look around and with the info that I currently have there is no mention of storage. Saying that the version for the E90 series does have an SD card slot for the map data. I don't know if the E89 version will have this or if it would be suitable for music storage.
There are 2 USB inputs supplied via a cable so a memory stick could be used here, then there is the streaming from your phone ability either on phone storage or stream via the net.

For those that do have iDrive then some of the advantages are that you can choose between NBT, EVO or ID6 display screens, you still have all the original use that you currently have and you get the addition of the Android based new features, oh and it's touch screen.
You can have any off-line or on-line sat-nav programs you prefer (Sygic, Waze, Navmii, Google Maps etc)
Music apps like Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify, Deezer, Google Play etc
You can have Torque (WiFI only as Bluetooth OBD2 is not supported)

OK a quick update on this...
Chinese New Year is now over and they are back at work.
I have now decided to have one of these units and can't wait to have it delivered.
Once it arrives then I'll be undertaking a video and written How-To (the video to include unboxing, installation and how to use it).

I am so looking forward to having this installed in my Z4.

Looking forward to how this turns out id be interested although the 750 price tag which is like 600 gbp is abit much for myself.

Worth noting that I've got a chinese rockchip android 8.1 double din unit in my other car, and not all android apps work on it... e.g. BBC Sounds you can't log in, bbc radio iplayer crashes all the time etc. Plus radio reception is pretty poor, the microphone doesn't work very well for voice calls and the screen contrast isn't great for google maps, and you can't modify the volume between apps either.. £300 not well spent in my opinion!

It does look nice though...Hopefully someone can be the guinea pig and tell us all how good it is.
Yep, thats android for ya, don't forget the guy in his basement hacking your car as well.

Need a bit more than that.
How did the fit go, was it straight forward?
Did you get an idrive type controller and does it work?
What do you think of it?

Sorry, that is only a render of what it'll look like. As far as I'm aware there are none outside of China yet, I intend to (hopefully) be the first here in the UK.

But to answer your questions, I don't expect any problems with fit, even more so because I know how it fits and have had all of that out before.
The iDrive rotary controller is being developed at the moment, so I won't be getting one straight off, but it will be supplied later to me.

I will keep updating this post as I get more info or better still when mine arrives and I get to make the How-To video for it.
