So after the car failing last Saturday night, I called by Breakdown Service, Silver Knight.
In short, less than impressed would be an understatement. Absolutely sh*t! Would be a better term.
I spoke to a girl on the phone, who seemed to fail to understand that I needed mechanical assistance and not a tow (the car was at home). She then told me that if I could not be recovered, they would be unable to accept any further calls from me until the car was fixed.
Not a problem I said. Just send assistance.
They said they would be an hour, they took 1 hour 45 min.
When they did turn up, I briefed the guy on what I had done (checked fuses, battery drop etc.) He just said to me:
"I'm not a mechanic, I just lift them and shift them. Where do you want to go?"
After explaining that I asked for home assistance (as detailed in my policy) I was told that I could no longer have any further assistance as he could not recover me somewhere and they had fulfilled my policy.
WTF!??
Morale of the story, stay away from Silver Knight. Cheap, but f**king useless.
So back to the car.
I hit the starter, heard a loud click, but no start. Went to Euro Carparts, picked up a new starter for £85 +VAT. 1 hour work today and it was fitted.
The airbox came off, the sound gen was moved, x2 E16 bolts and a 13mm on the battery lead and presto! Car starts and runs. She starts much more positively too.
Car was at 55k.
Then the new bike threw it's toys out of the pram and now just blows fuses on the indicators and horn.
