Well, I have just doubled the Z4 collection in a covert operation.

Management always wanted a Z of her own but practicalities, commuting, grand-kids to transport etc, put her off.
But recently, with semi-retirement arriving, I caught her looking at a nice little blue E85 for sale about 3 miles away.
Sadly, she wanted an auto and this was a manual so it was a no go.

Yesterday I spotted the 2003 2.5 auto advertised on here by Acestumacher.
Showed it to Val last night but she dithered over justifying the expense, so we left it.
Woke up this morning and thought 'sod it!'

Long and short, I travelled the 3/4 mile from my house to Stuart's and did the deal this evening.

Val knows nothing yet! She is out tomorrow early until around 2pm, so I will collect the car then and it will be on the drive when she gets back.
This could all go horribly wrong of course, but she is a decent driver, who held product licences with both Lotus and McLaren during her time as a purchasing manager with them, and I'm sure she'll get the best out of it.

Pictures will follow once it is home.

I'm like a kid on Xmas Eve, waiting to see her face.

Well done, I’m sure she will love it, having grandchildren I presume you will be a similar age to myself ( mid 50’s), I’ve started thinking life too short and if you can afford it then go for it. πŸ‘

What a great idea - I bet you can't wait to see her reaction.

Yes indeed. 55 years young! Lost my first wife to cancer aged 45 and Val's ex decided after 30 years he fancied someone else.
So we both have the same attitude. Live for the day.
Can't take it with you and one day of happiness is worth more than a life time of what if's.
Tomorrow afternoon could be fun :)

Good to see still taking risks at our age, IMO she’ll love you more for that than the car & the car am sure she’ll be thrilled to bits with..

Happy days

What a great post to read on a Saturday morning. That’s a lovely thing to do for your wife and I’m sure she will be chuffed to bits.
Looking forward to some photos later, after the great unveiling.

She’s going to be smiling later :P
Virtually the same life experience as myself, i even got mrs smartbear her own zed as well, sadly it was just to impractical owning two 2-seater cars and it made way for a mini after a year or so.

Did similar many moons back, I was working offshore and brought Mrs Spartan an old MGF for her birthday. E mailed her the address and told her to go and pick it up. She still tells her friends to this day.
