New tires, boot packed and set off down to Portsmouth. 270 mile journey to the ferry was uneventful as I’d hoped, car behaved impeccably. The fuel economy surprised me as she returned a solid 41mpg using only 1/2 a tank of fuel. Boarding was boring, sitting in a que for an hour and a half although once we started we were in in 20 minutes and sat at the bar.
Set to arrive Wednesday morning and im looking forward to dropping the roof and heading out across Spain.

I averaged 70 miles per hour and used cruise most of the time. Not really bothered about fuel economy however need to know how far she will go on a tank for route planning as I have a 10 hour drive waiting for me and that doesn’t include stops and potential diversions if The mood takes me.
 
Enjoy..we came back from Spain via Santander Plymouth..enjoyed the boat but not then the 4-5 hour delay embarking and 2 hour plus disembarking..

Great place to travel in a convertible..

Oh I hope there are no delays when I arrive, fingers crossed, the trip was good last time although I was driving a beetle convertible covered in flowers, don’t ask!, so I’m looking forward to this one driving the z. Definitely built for the European roads and weather 😎
 
When I drove mine down from the UK coming via the channel tunnel and across France I achieved similar fuel consumption at 44 MPG that was after being stuck in literally stand still traffic for 3 hours in Paris!

The N52 really is super economical on a long run considering engine size and having 6 cylinders. If you ever decide to come down to Malaga feel free to pop over for a coffee. :D
 
Arrived at Santander at 8am Wednesday morning, taking an hour to disembark so all good. 5 minutes off the ferry and I was stopped and searched (again) by the customs guys. All straight forward to be fair, always a pleasure…

I was away quickly and decided that I would make the drive in one stretch, aside from fuel stops. I took the toll roads costo g me around 15 euros in all and that shaved around 1hr 30 and allows me to sit at a steady 75/80 (most of the time)

Honestly, Zs are amazing cars to drive, can’t fault them. If I had the option I’d have gone for a .35 but hey, who knows..
 
Spanish toll roads and some other roads are a joy to drive on, hardly any traffic. The weather here right now is just great not hot not cold perfect for top down motoring. I would say the car is now in its natural habitat. :rofl:
 
Not wrong there Raj, spent an hour on bolneuvo beach yesterday, drive there was a pleasure even after all the driving on Wednesday, however I’m a little red today having forgotten the sun cream. Factor 50 today
 
Can’t wait to see what that Zed looks like in a tiny weenie yellow polka dot bikini.

I'm with @Marcoose, there must be a picture with a bikini clad hottie against or in the car to complete the photo montage.... :oops: :wink:

Sadly, and in spite of asking, no bikini clad ladies would allow my to take their pictures with the car - the nice police man said I should work on my Spanish though, or next time they may not let me out and i will deffo get more slaps..

I now think this purchase was very worthwhile - i absolutely love the E89, drive and handling and whats more its thoroughly enjoyable even with the roof up! It will shortly be on spanish plates and will live the rest of its life in Spain and I will have a smile wider the a cheshire cat when I'm over there and driving...

If i didn't mention it before, no one flashed my at all re my headlamp aim - seems its very flat as is...
