And so the colour change begins...

Sounds good I'd be interested to take a look at what you used. The one I linked to doesn't sound like it stretches very far, they say you need a large to cover two seats which bumps the price up.

Found the link, I bought my leather dye kit from here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261455508344
I also got my carpet fabric dye from them too. I spoke (via eBay messages) to someone named "Jonathan" who was really helpful and sent me free decent sized colour samples too. From my experience, I would highly recommend them

Thanks I might ask for them for some samples, at least I know they work well! :)

Apologies for the lack of "in progress" pics... but I'd like to think it's really coming together now... :)

It looks to be the case, but just to make sure - did you colour the whole of the back of the seats too? I'm trying to gauge how much I'd need in comparison because if I were to go with the half colour effect I'd be covering considerably less than two full seats.

Yes I did. You'd probs even get away with just 500ml kit I reckon

You already know what I think, it looks awesome... and annoyingly inspiring! I've emailed Jonathan again for some blue samples

Haha nice. I still say you should do it 🙂

Just seen this as I'm looking to do the same thing when it's a bit warmer and I can get it all done in a week!
How much paint did you get through for the interior plastics?
Did you remove the dash or did you paint it all in situ?

Cheers!

Plastics I used about 6 cans from memory (some parts I replaced/switched though)

For the leather paint I purchased a 1.5 litre pack - so that includes everything you need such us brillo pads, leather prep, alcohol cleaner, leather colourant and chosen finish

When you refer to the dash..... what do you mean? My "Dash" was always black? Or do you mean the dash trim - in which case, I removed the dash trim

Ah your dash was always black, didn't notice that! Mine's grey so I'm thinking it needs to come out :(
How close a match is the black dye to it out of interest?

My seats are already red so I'm good on those thankfully! Doesn't look like it should be too bad, apart from behind the seats which will be fun for me!

Just to add to the conversation, it may or may not be of interest but I used one of these https://www.vinyldye.co.uk/Leather-Dyes-Restoration/Leather-Dye-Kits to do both leather door cards. I actually couldn't settle on a colour so I went through a few different shades and each one covers over the last no problem. One small bottle did two door cards and there's very little effort involved at all, you get a sponge with a rough side and a soft side, quickly dust over whatever you're colouring with the rough side, then apply the dye with the soft side. Loads of colours to choose from too, although I assume you're only looking for red and black.

This stuff is pretty much the same too but a paint rather than a dye https://www.amazon.co.uk/Angelus-Leather-Paint-Oz-White/dp/B0196T961O.

Just in case it's useful I'm just throwing it out there.

Just stumbled across this thread again.

OP your transformation is just stunning.

The black is as black as black can be  .... if you want it darker, just add another coat

I used their vinyl dye cans for some of the plastics.

As you may remember though, I used these for my leather paint kit:
1.5l of this kit: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261455508344

and 1.0l of this for my carpet: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251495903264

It does look awesome, no critique of yours whatsoever you've done a stella job and I wish mine looked that good! Was just a suggestion if anyone was looking at different options.

Damn I wish red went with blue!!
