And so it came to pass....... Dreams do come true..

Having had both, the difference is night and day. It is a package of differences that makes the car special, not just the straight line performance figures.

stuartC, if you want an objective opinion from someone you know then ask Ruth - she's driven sammyz's M quite a few times.

Thanks, didn't know that. Will be sure and talk about it when we next meet :) SWMBO has already given the green light for an M, but only on the condition that she can have RedZed. I love that car woman. ;)

I first came into the fold after driving my mates 3.0 si. At the time i was driving a 325ti as a stop gap and whilst deciding what to buy after moving to a new employer. Th ti was my first bmw/first six pot and i loved it even though when buying it, i saw it as filler until id settled into the new job.

As soon as i drove the 3.0si, I knew i had to have one. Having formed my opinion on the si, I started researching and eventually thats when the M option came to light. Id mirror the sentiments here exactly. The 3.0 is a great car and would never disappoint, but once you have driven an M, its hard to look back.

In 18 months and 20k miles mines been a joy, sails through inspections/Mot, and still returns 24mpg on the motorway. Tax is a bit of blow each year, but in terms of smiles per mile, well worth it in my opinion. I have never kept a personal car over two years in my lifetime, but sat here today, dont have any intentions of parting with the M.

Another huge difference between any other Zed the M is the steering.

Normal Zed's have Electric Power Steering whereas the Z4M is Hydraulic Power steering; this is a huge plus point for me and one of the main reasons why I would love an M over the standard Zed.

I can't stand the electric steering on my Zed it gives no feedback and feels horrible, the rest of the car is great and I love the engine but the steering ruins a good car IMO.

Once I am on the property market (in a few months’ time hopefully) I am going to start saving for one, they look amazing and I’m sure it will drive even better than it looks 

Would love to be taking out in one sometime if anyone in the Surrey/London area is free one weekend.

You could always through an Alpina into the mix... :poke:

Nah, no point in going from a 3.0, to the Alpina to end up finally with the Ultimate - the M :poke:

Wrong way round PVR...
Surely the order is 3.0 > 3.2 > 3.4L :D
Then we'll all end up putting in orders for stevie.w's 5.0L V10 conversion

Alas they didn't do it with an auto, other wise the best E85 GT out there. :D

The ///MR is the out and out smiles per mile sports car of the range though. :driving:

Funnily enough, had we had the resources to keep a third family car, and another garage, my wife suggested the same thing when I was buying my new Z. The last was auto, which SWMBO could drive... But didn't as it was my baby. It wouldn't have worked having just 2 Zs though :(

Yeah it would have to be third car for us too, which we'd have a problem justifying.
