And more tyre comparisons/advise....please

Hi all,

I've recently put a set of Falken 452's on the rear, i'm not overly impressed by the ride improvement (comfort) for non run flats, and i've not found them very good in the wet.

I've still got Bridgestone Potenza's run flats on the front to which i need to change. (more than likely will replace the rears with the same when the time comes)
So these are up for grabs if anyone wants them! Plenty of tread left!

The tyres i've been looking at are:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
(theres two tyres here for the same tyre, with different prices? any ideas on differece? http://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b2324s134p0/Car_Tyres_-_MPV_Tyres_-_People_Carrier_Tyres_-_18_inch_Goodyear_Tyres_Car_Goodyear_Eagle_F1_Asymmetric_2_-_R18_inch_-_225_40_18_225_40R18)

Goodyear Excellence

Vredestein ??? -

Any other suggestions and experiences welcomed!

Cheers

I think you will notice the biggest change from runflats when the fronts go . Should be less twitchy & less tramlining .
I had falken's previously & wasn't impressed or disappointed but i guess not purchasing them again says enough 8)
First time on vredestein's & i,m much more convinced that these tyres have transformed my Z on all corners .
The grip in wet or dry is excellent & are quiet & appear much softer to ride .
i Would recommend & will purchase again without hesitation

Happy with my Asymmetric 2s, difference there is the load rating, the XL (extra load) ones have stiffer sidewalls and are what I've gone for, previous Eagle F1s have had quite soft sidewalls and would have been too much of a change from run-flats I think.

I agree with andrew, buy the the extra load version.

I bought standard last time and they were noticeably less sharp than the previous XLs

I put VRed potatoes, all round on my MR to replace the Conti's & I would recomend them to any one.

A friend of mine has exactly the same z4 as me, apart from he has 17" wheels with Eagle F1's and its a completely different car!

Whats interesting is that the 'XL' tyres are £20 cheaper? How bizarre.

Definately going to get the fronts changed asap now, bit fed up of a bone shattering ride and it tramlining everywhere!

When I first got my Zed I was convinced I had a paggered wheel bearing as the whining noise above 30mph was horrendous (even without the wife in the car).

Turned out it was the bloody tyres! They were 'Sunny' SP3000s or something I think. Anyway they were virtually brand new but they had to go so I looked at online reviews and the tyre that seemed to score best on road noise was the 'Barum Bravuris II XL' which I'd never heard of but a couple of phone calls revealed they're apparently a mid range tyre made by Continental and have quite a good rep for quality in the trade.

Got all 4 corners done for under £375 using tyreshopper website and they have been really good with low road noise and excellent grip even through recent wet and icy spells.

I would never have believed tyres could make so much noise until I got the Zed. :driving:
