An interesting Sunday

The thing about the 313s is getting the e89 fitment because most 313s are specced (ET) for 3 and 1 series cars. The e89 ET is 29 front and 40 rear.

Well just come back from Sytner Cardiff.
When I booked the car in I said I suspected a cracked alloy, the BMW chap replied Z4s don't have cracked alloys ( )
So several hours later I arrived back with a sheet stating alloy has cracked and interestingly the other rear had been welded.
He said I could ring BMW UK and see if they would authorise a wheel change but they wouldn't do it there and then...

I'm half tempted to buy a complete set of non run flats and switch to 18s
I feel like i'm treading on egg shells driving the car with 19s and RFTs...
I've only owned it 2 months

Where did you buy the Zed from Matt, the fact one of the alloys has been welded is quite shocking :o

Tim.

I second Tim here... Was this bought AUC? Because if it was then the dealer should have replaced that wheel as a wheel weld, I would have thought, would not pass on an AUC car (if they did it right!)

Hi Guys

It was bought privately.
I'm the 3rd owner. Just prior to purchase it had an oil service at Dick Lovett Bristol , and 2 new Pirellis on the back

Ah, then I'd talk with your mate thats trading his in and get 'em swapped if you can? perhaps weld the other wheels and offload 'em?

These are the same alloys that came standard in M Sport spec which I have on mine, I do like the style but agree with Maniac 19s do look better. I wished now I had specced the 326Ms when ordering as it was 500 quid to upgrade. I would have to spend nearly 3k now

I too agree that 19s look better but for me it's prudence over asthetics. Didn't Stark or someone have a crack issue with 326's?

Are they still having issues with the new style 326s with the bigger lip inside hope not having not had any trouble with the old style on the 23i apart from the ease you can curb them speced them on the 35i 8)

296 is the original weak wheel. 296's have been revised. 326 is unchanged as are all other wheel types to our knowledge.

And even then bmw denied that the 296 alloy was affected when I spoke to them!

The revised 296 is the only 19" available on their website now when spec'ing up a z4, all the rest are 18", so I doubt they have revised the other alloy models if they are no longer available on the new cars.
