Greetings,

Not new to forums, or BMW, but new to Z4s. Haven’t spotted any Kiwis on the Forum yet, but I reckon using a Z4 might be a bit different here, mine’s probably the only one to spend much time ‘off-road’ for example! My Outback and Touareg are more at ease out of town. However, I knew what I was getting into; it took me a couple of years and plenty of research.

Until something breaks I’m planning to keep it as it was designed (minus the liability of run-flats of course) and just drive it, and not just on Sundays. Even with our bumpy, twisty roads (the tar-sealed ones) driving it is a real joy. Bringing the car home from the other end of the country when I bought it, an 800K, two day trip, was quite an adventure.

I have found getting the alignment checked very difficult, no-one, including BMW, is interested in the front camber for instance - it is what it is. I acquired the car with some truly dreadful ‘Chinese’ tyres (new ones!) which I immediately threw away and bought PS4s instead. Such a difference.

I do have questions (even some answers), and I’ll get to them in time…

Hi and welcome aboard.

There is another member with a very similar forum name to yours! Also "Haggisman" and BTZ461 spring to mind - hopefully they'll be along later.

And we do like to see photos of new members' cars on here - just saying before the photo police arrive!

:D we do have an NZ member here.. also named enzed funnily enough.. you guys will need to work on your username creativity :D :D

Hi and welcome, looks like you have a coupe, nice, been considering one for a while. Welcome anyway, they are great cars imho and good fun, easy to work on as well. Ditching the run flats very sensible. Lots of info on this forum and good to see another kiwi on here.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum, from Cornwall. :)

There are a number of forum members from NZ. Mostly around Christchurch on South Island, but Haggisman and his lovely E85 live North of Wellington. Still not too handy to you up in thermal lands. Fantastic country. Our son lives in Wellington. I can't wait to get back there for another visit.

Any pictures of your new stead would go down well.

Edit: Speak of the devil he posted whilst I was typing. :D

Hi, From sunny Norfolk. Well it was earlier today. oh, and that is proper Norfolk (Nelson and all that) not Norfolk Island down your way somewhere. :worthless:

Duplicate names huh, well I apologize in advance, I thought software might prevent that. If it becomes confusing I'll dump this login and make another.

It's ironic that I try to spend much of my summer photographing drag cars and hot rods but have barely a poor phone snap of this one but there you go, on the tyres I dumped.

So built on Wednesday, 11th June 2008 a 3.0si with rear pdc, heated memory seats, zenons, rain sensor, six 'Business' CD hifi, multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifting sports auto, cruise, blah, blah. I know we're supposed to get a manual box but honestly I can't be bothered with that, and I've grown to like the paddle shifting on the Touareg. It is grey, space-Grau metallic A52 apparently, which doesn't tie up with the options list I have which led me to expect A08, whatever that is. (Yes, another grey.) It took a while to find something with the options I like and that hadn't been monkey'd around with by someone else (no offense meant). The previous owner either broke or did not fix a few things so it's not perfect but in your money less than 70,000 miles clocked up. I'm adding to that quite quickly.

If you are going to do that do it now as I think the two can’t be linked and any earlier post you’d made wouldn’t be associated with the new one iirc.

I just remember not long after I joined there was a thread saying changing names loses all links and refrences to the previous username, of course I could be talking p!sh and remembering something completely different

Think it was something along the lines of they’d picked a username and didn’t like it and wanted to change it. When they joined with a username naecoupeyet (I’ve just completely made that up btw) and then when they got a car the username was irrelevant because they now had one and wanted to change to ivenoogotacoupe (again my made up pish) and it was pointed out that if they changed username everything under naecoupeyet or referenced/quoting would either not be there or not linked and the advice was rather than change just make a new one and don’t post anything else under the old username.

Of course you realise I’ll need to go and bloody look for this now :headbang: :headbang:

Welcome along!

I once sold a 335i to a guy from NZ. He had it shipped over as he was moving home and I still get updates from him from time to time. Incredible roads and am extremely jealous!

Can’t be many Z4 coupes out that way.
