Amp got fried need advice

Well, as luck would have it I went to take my car out a couple of weeks ago and it was dead. I popped the trunk only to realize there was some water in there. I must have accidentally popped the trunk as I was locking the car and we got pounded with a rainstorm like I have never seen before.
Anyway, I bought a new battery and cleaned out the water but my Amp is completely shot.

I am having a next to impossible time finding anyone that sells these. My local dealer wants $1500 which I think is completely ridiculous since it is only a amp with a crossover built in.
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do or know of anyone who sells these used or cheaper?
The MFG part number is 65.126963304 for a 03 Z4 3.0L with DSP and premium sound.
Is it possible to have an audio shop splice into the factory harness and use another amp?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have resorted to using a portable dock for my ipod to play music. :headbang:

Have you tried ebay or local scrap yards to see if anyone is breaking a Z4 with the premium sound system?

You cant splice into the wiring as the signal sent from the headunit to the amp is digital and an aftermarket amp wont understand the signal.

I checked all the usual places you would think one would be available but so far no luck.
I guess I will just keep looking and hope one shows up.
Thanks

as per my sig im looking too - no luck so far :( im going to get a quote from the local stealer for it shortly and i may just bite the bullet and pay it.

Well the search is over. I did a bunch of research only to find that you must buy the original amp anything else would not work.

I found one for $575 which is friggin ridiculous but still better than the stealer price of $1500.

If you want give Bavarian Auto Recycling a call 800-269-0863

Putting the amp in the trunk It is the stupidest design why put such an expensive thing like this in the trunk why not put it in the cabin where it is less likely to get damaged by water.

Anyone know why this happens? I thought I may have left the trunk open but if that is not the case then it can happen again.
