Amother MOT

Tomorrow i am having the day off cos the car is having its first MOT

not sure if i need to change the number plates, the side badge is not legal. How keen will the BMW dealer MOT be?

Not sure it's the MOT testers responsibility to determine if cosmetics are legal. I believe they just test the "road-worthiness" and safety of the vehicle.

My friends an mot tester, and I've helped do my mot on several occasions. Never EVER checked the number plate, apart from the lights.

Why do you think yours are illegal?

Here's what they check fof.

The text back: "as long as you can read it, and it's in the correct text I'd pass it"

Don't think they're going to care tbh.

Change them, takes two minutes and not worth having to take it back for a retest.

Don't want to be a party pooper but I agree. Unless you have a relationship with the garage/dealer they might be pedantic and fail you. Not worth the hassle if it can be avoided

Especially if its a roadster owner doing the test! :poke:

Do you get anything through from DVLA to tell you about the first MOT,and when do you get it done (how soon before its 3 years old)?

The tester isn't even going to look at the number plate. If you were to stereotype an MOT tester and place yourself in their shoes would you spot it....

Perhaps, but I'd be willing to risk it.

Aren't retests free? I've never had one fail.

i'm with spearman, i'm going to take a risk, live life to the max and all that sort of stuff

i may be cynical but i'm convinced it won't fail on anything that will be covered under warranty
