Ambulance hit me

Ring the station. Ambulance driver has room to swing round but took a short cut through the back of your car.
They'll be fine about it and the driver may get retraining pointing out that he has a bloody great box on the back of his tranny Van.

Trouble is, when people hear sirens, they panic, and often cause more delays than they would if they just kept driving. I've done this myself....and other times I've driven fast, ahead of the vehicle until safe to move over, rather than stop and block its route.

I think you should get out of the way as soon as its safe for you to do so....i.e. mounting the kerb if safe to pedestrians and your alloys etc!

From the diagram, were there other cars present not on the diagram? If not, looks like you stopped in a dodgy position (but as others said, I wasn't there, so don't know).

Also, now you've told your insurance, won't you get done at renewal anyway, regardless of a following claim or not, due to being in an accident...therefore more likely to have another (isn't that how they twist it to charge more?).

Looking at the drawing again, it looks like there is an arrow in front of his car turning right. I therefore assume it was the turn right lane and he could not turn right as his exit was blocked by the truck.

Yeah I was trying to turn right and the lorry blocked me just after I'd seen the ambulance coming, then it stopped and I was stuck.

Where would you expect him to go? If you are in the centre of the road in a turn lane then there is nowhere else to go other than into chevrons which are not to be driven in, into oncoming traffic or back into the lane the ambulance has just gone down?

Your advised to tell your insurance even if you do not intend to claim. If no claim is made after 6 month or by renewal then this is not recorded on your insurance and they cannot penalise you for it. It will not be registered on the motor durance database

You where stationary,the ambulance struck you..

They will have logs of where and when the ambulance was on call..

The damage isnt bad at all,but you shouldnt be out of pocket..

My auntie once got hit by a fire engine .......

Basically they don't stop when the blue lights are on ..........

They do keep records though, so contact the Ambulance service and state your case.
I think you will find that they have video in the ambulance as well.

I don't really see the problem, they usually pay up immediately

Shouldn't be an issue with insurance either - it's a non-fault claim, the third party (ambulance) was at fault. I too am confused that they hit you though, should have been more than enough space to get round you :?

Let us know how you get on with repair, a friend has just garnished his rear bumper in a very similar way and asked how best to fix it.

If my crew and I were heading to a 'life risk' and we scuffed your car I probab ly wouldn't have stopped as nobody was injured. However I would have informed control on what had happened and where. Speak to ambulance control and ask for the 'Duty Manager' the will either be expecting your call already or carry out the investigation and get back to you with how you proceed.

Very sensible sound advice! Scuffed car, very sad - somebody having a heart attack devastating!
These fellas are pro's and Im sure will have reported their damage. If not he next crew certainly will have!

I can't see any criticism, rather questions to understand why given that op had posted a drawing that looked so open. Questions are always asked on forums.

While I agree that the ambulance shouldn't hit him this happens all the time from minor taps to fatals across all the services. This is such a minor scuff I doubt the driver even knew while turning, possibly sirens on, etc.

Thankfully it can be fixed for a couple of hundred ££'s, but a shame op will be out of pocket.
