Amber Warning Lights!

Hi Guys,

I'm in need of your expertise...the attached photo shows the 4 warning lights that have reared their ugly heads recently :x It started a couple of weeks ago when they came on and then went out after 5 minutes or so now they are more or less on all the time (occasionally if I use the car 3 or 4 times in a day they seem to go out ) car drives fine with the exception of the hill-hold braking not working (that works fine when the lights go out)...Any clues what this might be?
Aside from the Christmas tree lit dash I'm LOVING the car ..coming from a 2.0 Z4 to the 6 cylinder 2.5 the difference is incredible...just the sound of the 6 cylinder engine is enough to make me smile 😃

Most likely to be one of the abs sensors on the wheels.
If the speedo still works that rules out one of the rears but I can't remember which one :roll:
You'd need a code reader to isolate the correct one.
Whereabouts are you?
 
Check battery condition first.
This scenario can be caused by low battery voltage causing wheel sensors to 'forget' their settings.
If you charge the battery to full charge (13 volts ish), then re-calibrate the wheel sensors by turning the steering lock to lock a couple of times whilst stationary.

If your battery is fine and the above doesn't work, then go with the previous post.
 
1) Read the codes
2) See 1.

ABS / DSC / Steering issue.
Could be just a wheel sensor or could be the pump,( or it might be related to Steering angle)
(Its the rear left ABS wheel speed sensor that drives the Speedo)

ABS/DSC Pump Motor failure - seized brushes. Fault Code 5DF0
Steering Angle Sensor Failure - Fault Code 5E40 - SAS replacement
AMBER BRAKE / TPS / DSC Lights

A good code reader will tell you exactly whats up.

Steering angle 5E40 doesn’t trigger the ABS light and doesn’t necessarily need the SAS replacing. Search 5E40 for threads.
 
I said"might" reason being as these codes and light combinations are often confused. That's why I included the link to a previous post that I made.
I had both.

I believe that with a steering issue you don't get the tyre pressure light? All four does usually tend to mean the ABS sensors.
However, it could be the ABS pump.
As has been repeated several times; FCTFC!!! (First Check The F***ing Codes :D )

[ref]Pondrew[/ref], with respect I suspect you may be a tad confused.
Moving the steering from side to side cannot reset the ABS sensors which are mounted in the back of each hub. they can only see the wheels spinning.

Fair enough. I had exactly the same scenario and lights with my E92 of the same era so presume most parts are similar. I looked for advice online and the remedy was battery related to wheel sensors.

I did say only that it is worth a try, as it costs nothing. I didn't say it is definitely the problem.

The OP may not have a code reader (amazingly some people haven't you know). :D

Oh I agree it could well be the battery. It was the reset process that threw me.
Tbh, not owning a code reader does not exempt you from getting the codes read.
That is why I immediately asked the OP's whereabouts, in case I could assist.
 
Thanks for all Yr replies guys..I don't have a code reader so will need to sort that...I'm in Bromley, kent so will book it into RBM :thumbsup:

Let us know how you get on.
With the lights on your ABS and traction control won't work properly, so go on a dry day and leave plenty of braking space. :wink:
