Amber oil light on start up

It's happened twice in the past couple of weeks since I did an oil change, start up the z4 and for about 10 seconds the oil light will stay on, oil levels are correct, what could it be?

low level? have you checked the dipstick?

ETA Sorry, read it properly now, you said levels are ok.

Yeah levels are fine, I put 6 litres of oil in when I done the oil change couple of weeks ago

Wrong oil or wrong filter getting oil flow rate wrong.

Was oil level checked 10 minutes after running? (exact details on here somewhere)

I used 5w30, and the filter that came out was the same that went in

Yeah it properly does but it's about 3/4s up the dip stick

Silly question, where is the dip stick as I can't find mine ? I have 2l sport

Doesn't have one Johnalexander - electronic system - there are two rectangular buttons in front of the steering wheel below the speedo/rev counter press in the right one for zeroing miles and left one for oil check (might be other way around?)Note you need to have the engine running for the check - then the dash will indicate whether oil is OK or needs +1 (add 1 litre). Details are in in your handbook. Most of the Forumites would prefer a dipstick but it is a system you get used to and you can check easily when on the move - NB can take quite some time to get a reading.

if your dipstick is showing the right level, and you've used the oil you said, then I'd guess that that's the only two issues you could have.

if it's the former, then you need to resolve it asap.
how'd you test for that? not sure...

It might be worth draining the oil, measuring how much there is and refilling ( perhaps with a flush in between?)
