21 posts on the refund subject to date, assuming we all ordered one of each item, that's around £40 as a minimum.
The real value of the scam (if it is, and it's looking that way) could run into hundreds, if not thousands, if Amazon listed it globally.

A facebook tortoise owners page I visit has also been ordering the digital thermometers with no luck too, albeit from another supplier (or the same one with a different account). Some have obtained refunds already from Amazon.
Mine was due on the 23rd. I've started the procedure for claiming. If by some miracle it turns up in the next couple of days, fine. It was worth a punt for a couple of quid and little risk really as I thought Amazon would refund.

As said, when you use a third party payment system, you LOSE ALL of the protection given to normal purchases using the card, and Ebay/Paypal are fully aware of this...

I don't think that is true. You may lose all of your rights under S75 of the Consumer Credit Act, but you always have chargeback rights from the credit card company (Visa/MasterCard).

I have a 14 digit China Post tracking number. When I type it into their website it tells me that the tracking number cannot be longer than 13 digits! 
it's not confidence-Inspiring that Amazon don't provide a link to China Post's tracking site - they do for a lot of other carriers.
We're going away for a week or so and will expect a nice shiny thermometer to be on our doorstep when we're back - not!

Tracking numbers are different to mine 
If this deal as gone pear shaped then its been worth £2 just for the 7 pages of posts and the anticipated bargains.
