Am thinking of selling my 35iS ...

Am thinking of selling my 35iS, but there are very few on Autotrader, PistonHeads or even here. What's the best marketplace for it, please?

in my preferred order for private sales: ebay, forums, autotrader, pistonheads, gumtree, facebook marketplace.

Thought you were really keen on it Buster, what’s caught your eye? :?

Am very keen on it, Rob. It's a genuinely great car. But have been offered a sapphire blue Porsche 997.2 Carrera 4S by a friend for silly money, have nowhere to keep both and the wife likes the colour.

Both Z4's I sold on here, both were bought on Pistonheads. Pistonheads has been very good to me in the past having sold my VX220 there within 24hrs however the 35i had very little interest so would suggest it depends on the car.

Had the 35i on Autotrader with lots of good enquiries so would thoroughly recommend that. I wouldn't bother with ebay, nothing but timewasters and lowballing buffoons.

My suggestion would be to list it here for a few weeks first, if no takers then put it on Autotrader. Or if you want it moved fast, go straight for Autotrader

Definitely worth sticking on here. I'm sure there are a few people like me, itching to upgrade to either a 35i or 35is when the right one comes along.

I'm hoping something pops up when the prices take their usual autumn/winter downturn.

I sold both of my previous Z4s on here so that would be my starting point.

Both sales were much more straight forward than selling my previous two 3 Series on Autotrader!

I did put my last Z4 on Gumtree as well (after all it's free) and got one viewing from that, but the viewer said it was too expensive - and to be fair it didn't sell on here until I dropped the price. :(

Having sold 3 cars on here just imo you need to have a firm sensible price in your mind as you’ll not get far trying to squeeze every last penny and a bit more on here. You could ask for a little more on the other sites and possibly get it, but from here you’ll very likely have a genuine buyer, and less hassle than the wider audience, that to me personally is worth it for a perhaps few hundred less. Plus even with a donation to the forum you won’t spend as much on advertising. So I’d try here first for a while, and if you don’t want comments on your advert just say so. If you don’t get any bites within a month then try elsewhere.

Best of luck which ever way you go.

Agree with all of the above, couldn't put it better - and it works. Plus, your car probably stays on the forum, which is kind of nice. :D

I sold my previous E85 on here and bought my current 35IS from here.
An E89 having a hard roof and 35IS so rare I wouldn't expect much seasonal variation

Especially when you’re looking for a specific colour/combo/spec

I was pretty set on what I wanted and was prepared for a long wait, luckily didn’t have one, but was prepared.

OP having been studying this market closely for a while now I’d actually say the prices have been increasing in the last few weeks and as you say very little availability.

There's not many 35is versions about and if it's a well specced version all the better
I don't think they did them in any "Marmite" colours?

I think anyone looking to buy has to be prepared to accept some compromise. "A car on the drive is worth 2 in the adds" so to speak... In my case it was the millage, in the 70ks, higher than I wanted but the spec and the rest of the car was great. The perfect car probably never comes up with so few, so it's get the essentials right and enjoy the rest.

So let me get this straight, you are looking to sell your car because it has hit 70,000 miles?

Are you asking me? If so, remember that I answered effectively the same question - Rob's - in my second post in this thread. (I've been offered another very good car cheap, but don't have space to keep three - including my wife's - under cover.)

If that doesn't happen, my 35iS is - touch wood - running sweet as a nut - it had a service, new tyres & MoT last month - and I'll be very happy to keep it. Lucky me.

Me??? No plans to sell, just fitted all new dampers and springs, DBA front discs and braided hoses, sailed through its MOT and had dealer service.... it’s my “daily” as my RS is a garage queen.
