i mentioned on here a week or so ago i suspected i had a rear spring issue (heard a strange metal on metal noise every now and then) and that i was going to have a look when i had a chance to take the wheel off. well heres some photos from earlier when i had a chance...

im no expert but im pretty sure there should be some kind of rubber boots top and bottom (think i saw them on a youtube vid) but i may be wrong, so hopefully some of you more knowledgeable people can help me... pics below...

also worried why that says top and has an arrow pointing DOWN?

it needs a damn good wash but im having a new bumpoer etc sprayed tomorrow so was waiting till i fit that :D

both top and bottom both sides? is it worth just buying them separate or a whole new spring set in case these have been damaged being run without them for so long?

Top rubbers look as if there in position. Check the springs i'am sure they will be fine

From what I remember, this used to be on air, didn't it? If so, he's obviously forgot to put the rubber bit back in the bottom. You can buy new ones from the dealer quite cheap.

Yea this was on hydros before so I had a feeling it wasn't put back correctly (or in a rush to sell) at least I now know what the strange noise is, don't suppose anybody has part numbers?

Does this help with part numbers

The lower rubbers I have are 33.53-1 094 518

ok part numbers taken note of and will get a price Monday morning from dealer i speak with.

also while im playing about back there and have springs out etc, whats worth replacing back there suspension wise, any bushes etc? (any links to parts or tutorials would also help) makes sense to try and freshen up the whole rear while its apart, then the front end in a few weeks when i replace all the front plastics :)

Just changed my springs yesterday, along with ARB bushes and drop links. Mine is a 2.5i on Sport Suspension so used Suplex Springs, £83 from Dingbro, Bushes and Drop links from Euro Car Parts, around £26. Time taken around 1.5hr per side on axle stands.

Of note the top rubber mount has no hole in it, the bottom one does though. Top is like a nipple. The one you have there is the bottom one and they don't fit the other way round, tried it then noticed the sticker that says top!!!

Your springs are in upside down as it is marked top with the arrow pointing the wrong way!!

Not a big job to do.

Supplex Confimed my part number from my VIn as 6231, Sport Suspension. Seems ti sit about slightly higher than before...but then I was missing a bit of spring!!!!

Mine is sat on m sports springs aswell, I'll order some new rubber mounts and sprints look ok, will look into th bushes you mentioned and hopefully find a video and do them all at once, thanks so much for all your help, pictures to follow next week when done :)
