Am I making the right decision?

Hi guys, yes another brake question - just want to make the right decision.

I want to change all disc and pads as the original/existing discs are rusting, have a lip and are looking worn and past ther best. After searching here and on the web I have narrowed it down to two brand options:

Option 1. Brembo vented UV coated discs all round with new pads and sensors. Should I go with just standard or grooved as seems to be mixed reviews for grooved.

Option 2. MTec grooved UV coated discs all round with new Green Stuff pads. Need to get sensors from somewhere as they don't seem to stock them?

Not doing any track days, just want a good road setup for a 2004 E85 3.0i. Any suggestions on best place to buy as Brembos seem hard to find with UV and have all items in stock.

Not sure on the Brembo discs but I have the Mtec and they are great for the money.

I got my sensors on EBay for a fiver or so each and work perfectly, very easy to change with a guide on here.

Bear in mind that you only need to replace the sensors if your pads have worn down to the point that the dash light has been activated. Oh and don't do what I did and assume there are 4 sensors! There is one front and one rear, opposite sides but can't remember which way around!

I had mtec disc fitted to 3/4 of my old cars, without any problems worked well after beding in. Slight noise from the drilled & grooved ones, does settle down after a while. I used mintex pads. I did paint the discs prior to fitting after the 1st set I fitted did rust as all discs will do unless coated. get yourself sensors as 9 out of 10 times you will brake the old ones on removal. :

I'd go for the Brembos unless you want the look of grooved discs.

Try here for the UV coated versions:

Looks really dodgy but it's just a German company that's very well set up for EU delivery. I've used them a couple of times with no issues.

+1 this is what i have and they are great, Brembo have been making brakes for years and seem to know what they are doing :)

id not get greenstuff pads after having a set fail on me ona set of black diamond discs, id go with one of mtec's disc and pad sets all round with mintex 1144 pads given the choice

Waiting to get car washed n bored to find this come up.
If it's an 04 3.0, it'll have the 300mm discs, so while ur forking out check out the simple front caliper upgrade to 320mm (or was it 325mm) and suggest fitting Meyle platinum anti rust discs (OEM BMW German supplier)
Look up the how to guide, one of the best things I did & makes high speed breaking far less effort

Choosing between those two, I'd also go for Brembo, they are good indeed.

Two days ago I ordered them from http://www.buycarparts.co.uk/

It takes paypal and offers quick delivery, I went ahead and paid for the discs.

Looking forward to receiving the discs. Hope there will be no issues. I'll come back and post the details when they turn up

I've grooved and dimpled mtec discs and mintex pads on mine, no complaints
think with handbrake shoes, front/rear sensors and black coating+fluid, cost about £250 all in

black coating wears off the face soon as you brake but least it keeps the rest covered, mintex produces a fair bit of dust though if that matters to you

I received the ordered parts, it took 4 days from ordering to delivery. The communication was ok, they responded to my emails quite quickly and the parts are exactly what I was expecting so I am very pleased! :D

Plain brembos with a good street pad/OEM +.

Grooves will give an annoying judder and reduce the surface area for braking.
