I haven't driven my z4 in over a month. I got in it today and went to put something in the storage compartment (in between the two seats) however it seems to be locked. Did i lock it... can it be locked... I doesn't seem to be jammed and i didn't think you could lock this storage compartment... can anyone help me here please,

thanks in advance

No, still no joy. It seems to be locked, although i did slide my key in between the gap a price the door open, but the button that is supposed to perform this operation is locked tight... any other suggestions, thanks in advance

Is your key set up so that you need to double-press it to unlock everything, the first press only unlocks the drivers door? Only thing I can think of :scratchhead:

IF you have a locking mechanism, (I thought European cars did not have them) then it has jammed or broken in the locked position.

Mine as done the same thing. Took me 30 secs to figure it out how to bypass until I get time to troubleshoot it.

No. 10 on the drawing:

No. 18 is the electrical solenoid that actually positions the locking mechanism. This could be bad also.

To bypass the locking mechanism so it does not lock, you must first remove the upper console cover. No. 14.
To do this, remove the two plastic screws on the bottom of the cover and it just unclips (be careful) from the body.

After that is done, look at the latch: No. 10

To disable the lock, there is a slide assembly on the lock. just slide it up and it will not let the lock really lock. It will now just be a latch...

Mine did the same thing. Open your trunk, (or boot). On the inside rear bulkhead there is a round knob attached to a cable. Pull it. Your center console should now open. At least mine did. Good luck.
