Am I being stupid?

Thank you! I’m very curious how a child seat anchors there…but not that curious! Thanks!

Also thanks for the centre cap, got back from Slovenia last night and it was there waiting for me! I’ll be donating to the site in your name!

It is not to fix a child seat. Do not use ISOFIX with this securing point, as per hand book

"All new cars must have an ISOfix bracket and also have a third point where you can secure a strap known as a top tether"
ISOfix itself is in the seat base, this is additional. Not enough space there for luggage bigger than a ciggie packet, not sure that would need tying down.

Check pages 45 & 46 of the Handbook.

"Do not use a child restraint with ISOFIX top tether"

The Z4 has lower ISOFIX anchors in the passenger seat.

I only checked this out as ISOFIX was listed in my spec' and had no idea what it was, had to look it up

Ahh ok so it’s a top anchor for a child seat…strange, never seen a top anchor for one ever before and my Father worked for Klippan! Thanks for the answers! I now know I’m safe to use it for a wiring route to hide my Alexa Echo auto!

None of this makes sense…isofix IS for child seats so what is an isofix top anchor used for?

Dude, look at this pic.... my car
#1 is a lashing eye as mentioned in the manual pic you posted, barely strong enough to hold a fag packet.
#2 is what OP is asking about, this is part of the body/chassis.
They are clearly not the same.

Look at the manual picture you posted, WHAT DO YOU SEE? DO YOU SEE WHAT THE OP IS ASKING ABOUT?

My car has 470 Child Seat Isofix Attachment, it clearly won't use the piece of crap at the top of the rear firewall.
It DOES need a third location for a strap, it will be the lower.

Just for your entertainment, attached is a pic from my manual, believe it or not they are not the same manuals worldwide.
It shows the location of the ISOFIX brackets in the seat, and explains how to find the lower anchor point by moving the seat back rest forward to reach it, i.e. the location in the OP's question. It's Japanese, but my wife is quite good at it

So yeah, take your pick.
