Am I being a dipstick?

I’ve just done a full oil change on my E85 2.5 but have a very odd dipstick that doesn’t match the owners manual (see picture below);

Does anyone know the correct filling position on this type of dipstick?

I’ve marked three positions on the pic.

Position 1 is what I suspect is correct

Position 2 is about where I’m sitting now having put I. 9 litres of oil!

Position 3 is also a possibility?

Anyone have a clue? Or maybe it’s none of these?

No1 is the correct marker, it should be near the top of that (or bottom from this angle of the photo)

As it's a 2.5 it'll be an M54 engine, the oil capacity of which is 6.5 litres. You'll want to drain some out as it can cause damage being overfilled
