Am I allowed to mention a TT?

Hi guys,

Literally just signed up and wanted to say 'hi'.

Well I've just put a deposit down on an '07 3.0si Sport Coupe and am very excited but also a bit nervous moving back to RWD especially after reading the 'snow' reports on the forum. Have to admit it was a bit of a rushed purchase. Previous car was an '03 TT 225 and it has been superb (and handles this weather really well) but it was getting on a bit so automatically thought I would move up to the newer shape but was so disappointed when I took it out as it was so much more refined and no rewness to it at all (well the 2.0 FSI anyway). So I started looking around and just couldn't see what I fancied so I started wandering round a few garages and ended up in Peterborough looking at this Z4. Now it looks fantastic and I'd been given the nod from the wife that I can lose the 2 pretend seats in the back of the TT. I took it out and the buzz was definitely back again, so put the deposit down straight away. Should have it first week in Jan and can't wait.

So I'm a Z4 noob and should therefore apologise for the future stupid questions that I am bound to ask ;o) I do have lots of questions but I will search the forums first and be good, but if anyone has recommended threads or advice then please pass though as all is welcome ... unless you say I should have stuck to the TT ;o)

Mike.

Hi Mike,

Good move  Welcome to the forum... check out the Offical FAQ - good starting point!

Have a look through the galleries too - some good ideas!

HI and welcome to the forum!

As Pawn says.. be careful what you read, as it is quite an addiction to start fiddling ;)

cambs_mikey, welcome to the forum.... :driving:

And yes you are allowed to mention a TT...
We like talking about all cars here and we even have a sections for discussion about "Other Marques".

Welcome - yes you should have kept the TT, but as well as the Z, i went from a TT and was meant to sell it, but have kept it for the bad weather - but yet to have any bad enough to have to take the TT out, :D have to say though we have faired better in leics than most in the Uk, it would have to be several feet thick for me not to take the Z out, though might not be saying that when it does get that bad around here.

I love my TT, but the Z is another class you will love it.

You buy it from Sycamore? If so, I know the car you've bought I think. Very nice car indeed! I've been up to Sycamore's a few times over the past few months, looking at Z's and buying my other half's 1-series. I was thinking about that Z4C myself but she who must be obeyed wants to do the French Riviera with the top down so the coup was given the cold shoulder. Lovely car with a very nice spec!

Welcome!

Yes I did, Midnight Blue with Champagne trim. It's in great nick and I was lucky as there was a bloke behind me interested but he ended up buying a 7-series (???).

Great move, from Audi to BMW, you'll love the Zed.

please don't mention the TT anymore, I'm still in therapy from owning an A6 (21 pages of service reports in 3 years. Fabulous car to drive but the mechanics were s**t.)

Welcome to the forum

I'd have to agree with that. I got a TT as my sensible car (it's a 4wd hatchback, how sensible's that?) when I decided I didn't need back seats v much and was hating my 120d. Didn't go for the Z4c as the TT had more load space. The TT is a good car, but the Z4 is the more pure sports car IMO, probably as it's not based on a Golf floorpan, but the TT feels more secure in poor conditions. Both good cars but I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Wish I could have affored to keep both but we need one 'sensible' family car. I best not mention that one just yet :D

K Mcbeee, will shut up about it now. :tumbleweed:

I'll certainly let you all know my first experiences with the new wheels. It's making the wait worse seeing all your nice machines <sniff>

Good choice of car, I spent considerable time looking at that exact one before opting to get a black one brought in from elsewhere. The two guys I dealt with at Sycamore were great as well:- very helpful & friendly. By comparison I felt like Elms(?) in Cambridge were trying to usher me out the door the minute I walked in.

Yeah the two I dealt seemed nice. Having said that though I'm not sure I could bring myself to ever really 'trust' a salesman.

It's strange but nice that 2 people on this thread know of the car :D
