Thinking of treating myself to a low slung ally trolley jack with my birthday money from the other week anyone got any of these was wondering if the quality is any better for the Michelin over the Clarke one from Machine Mart.

This one is very cheap but that may be for a reason

the michlin and the clarke one are the same, my mom brought me the michlin one for my birthday but i had already got the clarke one from a while back , they are identical except one charges more due to its premium name!!

If you have access, Costco usually have a really good quality 2 tonne Arcan aluminium trolley jack in stock for about £80. I've haven't seen a better value one anywhere I've looked.

Thanks for that on other forums they say the Michelin one is better quality thicker material.

Lot of sites recommend the Arcan one that Costco sell looks nice can be bought on line http://www.motorsport-tools.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=56_57&products_id=643

Do you folks have any probs with the sinlge roller at the front posts are saying it can be unstable and the Arcan one having two seperate wheels should be better

I went looking for an ally low jack and finally settled on the Costco version, but not ally. I got for about £50 their 3 ton workshop jack.

Truly amazing and will last for life. fits under the Zed, will lift it some 55cm in 8 strokes and of course is stable and rugged.

Will post photos if needed.

Personally I don't like lightweight single roller jacks as people tend to rely on them, don't use stands and they are not that stable.

have had 2 clarke ones 1st one failed hydraulics the 2nd is falling apart, the screws keep undoing and getting lost, useful bit of kit though

I have the ARCAN from Costco....... superb. It lifts every thing I own. The extra capacity is useful.

Which one did you go for if you don't mind me asking? I'm fed up of driving onto blocks so i can get my normal jack under the car. :headbang:

Mick

I was looking at this one today or there bigger version

http://www.sgs-engineering.com/hydraulic-jacks/trolley-jacks/tja25-aluminium-trolley-jack

They come with a 2 year warranty so they can't be that bad, anyone have or brought anything from them?

I got a cheap one from Lidl, but as with Jan I am bored driving onto blocks... The Halfords one looks fine, though it is now £39.99. Might grab one next week as I need chocks anyway...

I have that sgs one... They are based in derby so i collected it from the warehouse one saturday morning and saved postage!

Used it loads of times... Painting calipers, wheel swap etc.

Been perfect for me... Fits under my car even on eibachs!

Only downside is there is no carry handle and it weights a ton... So have to push it from one side if the car to the other!

I poped into machinemart to look at the clark one but decided im going with the SGS on as it has a two year warranty postage is free plus the man in machinemart man was't much help so i will spend my pennys else wear :D
Swaying towards the 2.5 ton one as it has a high lift height and has two wheels compared to the single roller so it should be more stable.
