Alternatives to a Zed

Been looking at alternatives to a zed - must be red though

Favourite alternative is a convertible TT TFSI 2.0 litre - looks striking in red - not as fast as a 30i but no slouch - tried a Mark 1 years ago but just too small for my frame - The Mk 2 is much biigger , faster and better MPG and lower tax.

Also like the look of a red Boxster - is stunning but I can't get in the bugger - or I can get in but then can't move the steering wheel

I dont think there is anything as good all round like a Z ( E85), sorry

Oh but wait........I owned a 2006 3.5 manual SLK for a short time a couple of years ago , was surprisingly good in the corners and quick , bit of a low rent interior but a very capable sports car

I had a lovely low mileage SLK for a bit but got rid when I realised I was on first name terms with the RAC recovery man! Electrical gremlins that Mercedes couldn't cure. Nice car otherwise.

The old S2000 was tight inside for a big'un when I test drove one so I'd say a Nissan Z is the closest equivalent and probably underrated due to badge snobbery.

What? You're suggesting that there may be Zed alternatives? :o

Well you're wrong - there's not!

Hhmmm I think I would happily swap my z4 for a z8.
Not when they asked for your house keys as well.

Trouble is if you favour a proper roof and a convertible ( E89) instead of a rag top then the choice is limited. The new (ish) Merc SLC looks tempting but as its fairly new prices need to be a bit more accommodating ,could be my next choice.

Quite often we talk about what would replace our Z and even though its only a 2.5L I dont think we would swap it for another with a more powerful engine. We would want something different if changing at all.
The only car that we keep saying would be a good replacement for us is an F-type but would need to come down a bit in price first.
Wouldnt want a Porsche as the only ones really available would be a boxster or a cayman which out of them would be the cayman as the boxster is ugly. Then we wouldnt have a convertible.
And what is it they used to say about people who bought boxsters? They wanted a 911 but couldnt afford one.

A shiny late model Boxster S, or possibly a Boxster Spyder ( with the 385hp engine, an incredible car). I’d swap my Carrera for one in a minute.

Hmm but you wouldn't swap the Z4M :poke:

wifey drives the M roadster, she didn't like the Boxster S we had but if it had a PDK it would have been a different story. :D (I was ragging on her to rev match and drive at higher RPM plus it was black and the roadie is interlagos blue. No contest

If I could somehow put the M body onto a Spyder chassis I'd have a great looking car that works .......or maybe just find a mint 968 turbo ragtop. Love that car. F**kit, keep them all, don't swap... :driving:
