Alternative to Blackcircles ?

Was just about to purchase a full set of Falken FK452'S tyres from Blackcircles after hearing so many good reports about them, and the fact they seem way cheaper than anybody else.

However, they have the fronts in 225/40/18's but no rears to match in 255/35/18's, and they are not sure when they will get any further stock! - what a bummer.

Has anybody else used an online tyre supplier for the Falkens other than Blackcircles whose prices are similar ? i think they were quoting something like £390 ish all in, VAT, fitting etc.

thanks in advance...

I just used tyretraders.com following a recommendation on another thread last week having seen that Falken themselves were out of stock. Ordered on Friday afternoon and delivered today :) At the fitter now and will be on the road Wednesday :driving:

Cheaper than the price you quote £326.85 delivered or IIRC £370 fitted mobile or local. Def had both sizes in stock last week. I have my own preferred fitter in the village.

Great, thanks Jeeper !

Dont believe it, they have fronts but not rears !..........who the hell is going through rear tyres like there is no tomorrow ?.......anyone owning up ?

they do have the Falken ZE912 as everywhere else seems to have at the minute !

You could always buy the fronts from tyretraders and the rears from mytyres.co.uk - unfortunately mytyres buy their tyres in euros, so their prices have gone up by 30% in the last year, so you're looking at £130 for the rears.

one question, i usually do this to my previou car, but does the front 2 tires and back 3 tires have to be the same thread and brands?

No.

As long as the tyres are matched on the same axle there is no problem - well not unless you runflats on one axle and non-runflats on the other (or winter & summer tyres).

All - have a try with http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/ I've used them multiple times on different cars and thye've always been near the cheapest I've found elsewhere, but as they come out to you they're much more convenient.

Shame I have trashed my research notes but I did a search on Falken tyres and it threw up about 6 UK internet tyre traders and frankly they were pretty much all the same price as each other give or take a few £££'s and all less than Falken direct.

I'd really stick with same brand on all wheels if you can, Even if they are similar spec tyres will behave differently on the limit. Wet/Vs dry bias, compound of rubbers used, etc. and aside that the aesthetic look of different tread patterns is not so good

Wish I hadn't seen that tyretraders site :( I just ordered a set of Toyo tyres the other day from blackcircles that could I could of bought cheaper. :headbang:

Don't worry - someone will be along soon with a lower 'price crash deal' from somewhere at even less than tyretraders...

I always get tyres from eBay then take them down to my local tyre place for fitting. I usually find they are 25% cheaper than from a 'proper' tyre place but you do have to budget extra for fitting, disposal etc.

Yes - been down that route. Purchased 2 for my X5 from a respected vendor that claimed they were straight from the showroom from a guy that upgraded rims on purchase. One had a pinhole in the bead right through and the other would not seat. I returned and refunded after a lot of hassle, assuming in reality they were rejects that got into the system

I did however later purchase a complete set of rims and tyres for less than the price of the tyres off a seller who had upgraded

Caveat Emptor with Ebay

Just a word of warning I used Event Tyres and was not happy with the work the fitter did. I had some wobble in the steering after the new tyres were fitted so i took it to my local fitter who said they had not balancred the wheels. I sent an e mail of complaint to Event Tyres, but no reply 6 months later so I will never use them again.

These guys seem more expensive anyway, and thanks for the warning.

http://www.camskill.co.uk is where I buy mine. They don't do mobile fitting though so you'll need to go to your local friendly garage :)

Edit: £321 but may be worth a call to check stock
