Alternative luggage solutions to Roadster bags

I am planning in doing the north coast 500 around the north east of Scotland highlands. So I am looking for a language solution – I was considering the roadster bag solution at around £200 – but thinking how frequent this will be used – does not seem great value of money.

I am contemplating getting two holdser bags that are in the region of 70cm x 30 cm x 30 x cm –

What have you used?
 
I understand where you are coming from, I am Scottish and the further North you travel it can be more difficult to understand people.
They do speak the same language as you but just with an accent so if you listen carefully you should be able to communicate quite freely.

Well the wife is Scottish - but from Dalkeith (Edinborough) - so I have an interpreter -

On the funny side it took me a couple of years to understand the phrase "Do you Ken" -I was always thinking who is "Ken"

For us southerners "Ken" means "Know"

As her accent changes - when she is talking to her family

The bag that levels the boot area is 64cm x 27cm and 6cm deep.

The two cases that then sit on top are 70cm (from the floor to the top including wheels) x 33cm x 26cm (bottom) & 20cm (top) i.e. they are tapered to maximise the available space.

They are great quality and do a good job and spending £200 on custom luggage for a car costing £50,000 isn't unreasonable is it? :wink:
 
I bought two wheeled holdall bags which fit perfectly in the boot between the roof guides. They were from Argos and not that expensive. They are branded Revelation.

Search on here and there is a thread about them which gives more details. They waste a little space as they are not square at the top but they hold an amazing amount of stuff and can easily cope with three weeks holiday stuff.
 
Just go for the Roadster bags if you take the car away for more than a few days. In my experience they are the only way to fill the boot space efficiently.

They aren't particularly expensive and you will get most of your money back when you sell them.
 
We use 2 Swiss 'Wenger' bags in our Zed (wheeled and extending handle but look more like long sports bags rather than suitcases).
They are well made, look smart in black and hold plenty for a week if packed carefully. (We've had them 4 years)
Of all places we bought them in Tescos and they have been excellent :thumbsup:

65 x 30 x 35 cm We've used them in our 3.0si and ///M (where 2 fit side by side despite the battery located in the boot space)
