ALSO been burgled

i know how to get the police to visit your place. just drive past the local police station about 3mph over the speed limit and i bet they are round at your house before your even back home.

maybe then, you can mention the break in as some proper police work.

Sorry to hear about the break in. I have a PIR detector in the garage which is battery powered and uses a radio link to the main house alarm. Battery lasts for years, might be worth looking into.

I wasn't aware you could radio link alarm sensors... that is DEFINATELY worth me looking into, as laying a powercable is more expensive than you'd think....

they are only switches, on/off, so it can't be complicated

SK93, really sorry to hear this.

Hope you get it all sorted but nothing can make up for the violation of some c**ts forcing their way into your property and helping themselves to your treasured possession. I hope the string them up.

Bad news :( . I just really hope the insurance company arent d1cks about this. If it was me i would remain pesimistic until i had the cheque. If you start out disapointed theres only one way to go.

I was burgled about 6 years ago, i remember standing in the living room wondering where all my DVD's had gone, not even thinking i had been done over. Just didnt occur to me straight away

Sorry to hear this... i got burgled a few months back.. while i was upstairs sleeping they came into my house looking for my car keys.... didnt find them so took anything they could from downstairs.. which amounted to a over a couple of thousand pounds.

I phoned the police and they were around in under 30mins, knocked on the neighbours doors, took my statement, finger prints.... and had lots of updates from them - almost weekly + they came around and fitted new locks + battery powered shock sensors. I was very impressed with the service i received from Derby Constabulary!

In terms of insurance i didnt have proof (boxes, receipts or manuals) for a lot of my items (3year old laptop + camera's) but i gave them a description and my insurance company (Direct Line) were very handy and sorted me out quickly.. well they would have if their loss adjuster (everest) were not arses and wasted my time writing letters instead of calling while i was away on business.
