Alpina Roadster S...

Any questions, fire away :D Great car, only 167 of them (so very exclusive), and it's the Lux pack (not the S - the are all Roadtser S) you look for if you want the xenons, Sat-nav, better trim etc. Due to their low production volume, they are not emission-based-taxed, but are all PLG (currently £215 pa).

Headgaskets on the Alpina 3.4 engine can start to become a prickly point at around 80k, but many are still on original way over 100k. The problem is the very slim material between cylinders leading to a skinny HG which usually gives up the ghost between cyls 3 and 4 and initially shows as a misfire. They do not leak to the coolant.

I looked at, and drove, a sterling grey Lux one (#097) in Lincs. last year It's nice, and still for sale at £11k-odd on PH. That's worth a look, and the seller is genuine.

As I said, any queries, pm me.

Oh, and the Alpina Forum isn't so good on the cars for sale etc, but just ask a question in there and you'll get a response from very friendly and deeply knowledgeable and Alpina-passionate people...like Stuart :D . Always worth asking about particular cars there (get the build number), as old owners may be lurking with useful info......

This the one you looked at?

I'm a bit put off by the colour to be honest, don't really like the bronze/brown tint to it. I would go and look myself, but at 2 and a half hours drive each way, it's a long trip on a gamble wether I like the colour.

Thanks for the response. I will put the build number on the Alpina register on any cars I look at to see if anyone knows it.

Yes, that's the one. Looks lovely in the flesh, and to be quite honest, I nearly bought it, but he was holding out for too much money last summer. More sensibly priced now, as it needs a little tidying (not much, but required IMO). The black leather interior is very tidy.

Due to the rarity, you'll need to be prepared to travel to view. We bought from Cambridge (we live as far West in Wales as is humanly possible :o ) and viewed in Lincs, Notts and 2 in Cambs. Worth it to find the right car :driving:

Yeah, both my of my last cars were a few hours away. But I don't want to travel for a car that I'm not likely to buy. I might try and find a Z4 in that colour local to me to see if I like the colour then if I do, make the trip.

I have more pix of that car that I took if ever you'd like to see them. Mine are a better representation of the colour than his...plus his are a few years old from when he bought the car (a bit naughty). I see Wayne's old car is still listed for sale at Hanwell, and the 2006 MY car in Devon is still knocking around - both cases only suitable if you like black!

Yeah if you could email them photos please? I will pm you my email address now.

The 2006 car hasn't got the lux pack. Which sounds like a must have option?

PM returned :D

You are correct, it doesn't have lux. It doesn't look 'loved' either (I haven't seen it in the flesh, though, but I almost went to see it when at the in-laws last month) as there are bits of badge missing and they cost ££££'s

Lux gives you a better standard of interior trim, heated seats, xenons, bluetooth, cruise, sat-nav, rear PDC and other stuff. We kinda like it :driving:

BTW, a sterling grey lux just sold at Sytner for >£15k
