Well done Stu
What I will add to muddy the waters is one simple comment: I've driven a large number of ALPINA RS's (#69 was a tidy ride  ) and can assure you they ALL feel different: no idea quite why, but they do. Could be tyres, geometry or the electric steering, but they were genuinely all individuals. I think their feel is very tuneable.
Point-to-point I don't rate the E85 chassis as highly as other cars I've owned which are/were quicker/as quick and less troublesome over surface imperfections. But, that's forgiveable as there is something in their appearance and that is magnified by the ALPINA styling: we're very lucky in that we live in a touristy area, and when parked within metres of some really nice 'day out' Porkers, the RS draws as much attention, if not more.
As for wanting a hooligan: I bought the B3SBT as a (power) replacement for our RS: which it beats hands-down. The B3SBT is a total hooligan when the loud pedal is pressed with vigour. However, in the cabin it's far more sedate than the E85, and it grips better so guess which is faster point-to-point

It even has a similar howl to the S engine, which was an unexpected bonus

But, in an ideal world and with the funds available, we'd keep the RS forever. Stunning cars, those RS's, and we love ours to bits.
