I've just has a quote back from my local BMW dealership for an Inspection 2 & brake fluid change for #320...

I was expecting the worst but, when they gave me a VAT-inclusive figure of £460 all in, I was so pleasantly surprised, I couldn't even be arsed to try and negotiate the price down...

It's nice being able to avoid the ///M Tax... :fuelfire:

Good price.
Inspection 2 booked on my MC with specialist BMSport: £280
Roadtax: half that of the Z4MC
Bonus of an older ///M

320 plus 20% VAT should be £384 shouldn't it?!!
From the way my post was worded, I can see how you could think that - especially as some encoding schema swap £ and #

Alpinas are individually numbered and tend to be referred to by their build number - there were 373 Alpina RS built (167 in RHD) and mine is #320

@ZermattV - don't be harsh, it was an easy mistake to make :)

Good result, Perry. #108 goes in for an Inspection 1 next month, looking forward to the low(ish) bill

Zeld  - wasn't a dig at you - just the pretty "in" language we sometimes use on here

MR , MC, hashtag build number , MTax, Flimper spec -which I'm as bad as anyone at

[Don't kick yourself - Alpina owners are a strange lot...[/quote]

Taking #308 in for an oil service at Redish Motors in Bristol in a couple of weeks. My first time with them & hoping for good service.

You forgot 'petach'

Whats the feeling then, is it really important for the service to be BMW? Only asking as I always go to an indy, he's ex BMW but now works for himself
I get his stamp in the service book and think he does a great job. Will it make a difference though if I ever bring myself to part with it.

Depends on who, some who don't mind 7 previous owners and only check condition are also happy to have indies work on the cars.

My experience, which is again emphasised by my current selling of the M, is that everyone wants the dealer history.

on the last two I've worked on the basis that it has been a shame to have a BMW service history spoiled by an indy stamp for the sake of a 100 quid - however i get it MOT'd at an Indy Performance specialist as i like someone else to have a look at it once in a while.

My take- irrespective of make or model, I go for an indy on recommendation. An indy will be far more worried about reputation than a main stealer and you are more likely to get a mechanic that will do what is best for the car rather than a (potential) trainee who is following a procedure to get the car done in his alloted time.
