hi guys, not been around for a while due to non BMW ownership i suppose, it goes like that !!, anyway, the Golf GTI has been sold this week and the hunt is on to get back into a BMW, obv iously the Z is on the radar but i have a real E46 M3 itch that needs scratching. I have a trip to the Nurburgring again in May along with a large group from BMWland.co.uk, (anyone is welcome to come along by the way), and that is the deadline to get back into a BMW, i have missed BMW real bad, kids waiting for christmas aint got notin on me.... :driving: :driving: :driving: :driving: :driving: :driving: :driving:

E46 M3's are awesome cars! I really enjoyed thrashing the nuts out of one round the track it really was great fun. But I do enjoy the Z4 more and I know my Z4 is only a 2.2 but I dunno it just seems more fun. I used to own a 450bhp Skyline which wasn't as exciting as driving a BMW. I think now I own a BMW the only way I will change is if I go for a Porsche/Ferrari/Lamborghini (lets face it I don't think that will happen soon unless they decide to give us life saving fire fighters the money we deserve ;) ).

Glad you have seen the light though mate and keep us informed on your selection process. Oh and by the way I am Ricey a newbie! :)

Youve been lookin at my posts about spraying front headlights havnt you and its tugging at the heart strings!? :D

Good move and the E46 chassis and that 343bhp engine make a great toy that I'm sure you'll put your stamp on!

It was a R33 GTR with about £10,000 spent on the engine. I would post picture but don't want to hijack plowy's thread.

I reckon you need an ///M Zed this time or do you really need the 4 seats of the M3?

Hope to see you back on the owners list soon

Did you not rate the GTI or was it always a short term purchase?

Hmmm, it was a good car, it was remapped to 255bhp, performance was never an issue it was a very quick car, i would go as far as to say it was quicker than the 3.0 Zed, the DSG gearbox was sublime, the problems came in two forms. firstly front wheel drive, just couldnt get on with it and trying to get that power down was very frustrating, secondly it just left me empty, there was no feelings with the car, it had no character, performance and handling great but it was the intangible things that left me feeling empty, the things that BMW just seem to fill you with a sense of satisfaction of ownership. It was a car i would walk away from and never look back, one thing is for sure, i will never own any other marque as along as i am driving.. :driving:

as much as i would love to phil two things will prevent it, money and wife, this is funny, ive never stopped looking at Z4's for sale and whenever my wife catches me looking at them she tells me' your not having another sports car you nearly killed yourself in the last one', so i then show her a picture of an M3 coupe and say 'what about one of them?', 'thats alright she says, you can have one of them'...!!!!!LOFL

Aren't women great, they are beautifully cluless. When my wife wanted an MX5, I found her a 1.8 Sport with LSD, bilstiens and all the toys, mainly because I wanted to have some fun in it. My lovely wife loves it because it's a "pretty colour". She has no idea how capable it is.
