Sort of good to know, but doesn't make you feel any better!
 
Who manufactures and designs the wheels for BMW ?
I'm sure they'll be a bought in item and just bolted on at assembly.

Nice 1 Gaz, Ronal are a premium brand I think, been going for years, weird is'nt it, as far as I know the alloys on the e85/86 don't have this problem with run flats, the widths are pretty much the same on all Z4 models, can't be just a bad batch for this length of time surely, the 326's crack as well apparently so that'd rule out a design flaw unless by coincidence the 296 and 326 are just a bad design, who knows.
 
Do BBS still manufacture fo BMW?
I pass their factory on the way to the Freiburg area of Germany and have often been tempted to call in!

LOL When i had a cracked alloy i mentioned Watchdog to the dealer, he replied "oh, it only applies to 3 series"
 
CRACKED 296 BMW REAR WHEEL

I have two cracked rear wheels on my 2010 Z4 23i with only 13k on the clock. BMW took it in for runout test. One wheel passed and one was marginally outside, yet still they refuse to do anything about it. I have badgered the dealer and BMW UK but still get the same reply - There is no known issue with the 296 wheels. Now we all know there is an issue, so I'm taking BMW to court. I need all of you disgruntled BMW 296 owners to forward me your details so I can present a wealth of evidence. Please reply to [email protected] and send the following info:

Is this a 296 wheel problem? Please supply details.
What you have done about it.
What BMW have told you.
What happened in the end (replacement/fob off/ etc)

I won't let this lie until I have done everything I can to get this sorted out once and for all. Please help - your support is vital!

Yep all the best in your fight. Sorry I can't add to the disgruntled list as mine are ok due to only 1200 miles on them.

Keep us posted on developments please.
 
I don't know how they've got away with it so far?
They measure runout but how do we, the customer, know what the runout was at day one. They can't or won't give any inspection reports will they ?

Maintaining smooth roads is considered as "city beautification". There are beautiful countries and there are countries that are so-so, and it isn't always linked to the wealth available. You can guess which one the UK is, where even villages comprising of manor homes can have the roads resembling the moons surface.

Also the fact that government seem to dislike cars in general as the promote cycles and public transport, don't make things any better.
 
Ive seen roads in Germany where they warn that the surface is poor yet are in better condition than ours!
 
the roads are pretty bad where i am and whenever i come across a pothole whilst driving, make a note of it and log it on the council website. they usually get them sorted within 4-6 weeks, but its just a patch up. better than nothing and i like to get something back for the council tax i pay as aside from collecting my rubbish bins, the council do very little for me

They say they are skint here but want to build another HQ for £50 million
Oh and build a stupid road for another £32million
They couldn't lie straight in bed :
