Has anyone ever heard of these then? http://www.alloygator.co.uk

Noticed an advert for them in Autocar/Autoexpress- whichever it was. Looked an interesting idea but googling a few forums there's a lot of worry of them damaging wheels/tyres on installation, letting air out by breaking the seal or risk of flying off at high speed... :-o

Shame, I like the idea of some rim protection as my new Falkens don't have it.

Like the concept, but having a yellow strip around my wheel...... (would actually go with my interior) *thinks hard*..... nope. Just wouldnt look right

Might look better in the black colour, would need to see the product up close, but I think it might not look quite right for my liking.

On my previous car, and forum a few people had them.

Only one person had a problem with them.... Clipped a curb and the tire got damaged by this, so needed a needed a new tyre.

Also not sure you could fit this yourself on a car with run flats... The sidewall wouldnt soften enough to allow you to fit it.

Would go well on alloys with a thin rim... Like csl's not sure about 108's as you'd have 2 visible rims.

I like the concept of black ones as extra protection that's not very noticeable, but the idea of damaging your tyre wall :o - I'd rather put up with the occasional kerbing.

x2
I've searched around and there's a few reports of them coming off at speed and damaging the wheel arch, but no indication if this was with the correct tyres for the rim size. I can imagine if the tyres were too narrow for the rim (as you see sometimes) then there might be issues with them staying fixed.

Still, I'm tempted.

These are a great idea, very tempting. The ones that came off at speed are a bit of a worry but I suppose weighing up the pros and cons of them they could possibly be worth the risk.
Would have to be in black I think.

These Rimblade protectors are worth looking at, I'll 'fess up' by saying they were designed and put in to production by a mate of mine and are now selling worldwide but it's a neat idea. They got mixed reviews a couple of years ago but I know he's ironed out some teething problems and are now supposed to be very good.
My parking's OK and Mrs Ewazix doesn't drive the Zed so I've not tried them yet :D
