Alloy Wheels

Well firstly just to say I just bought my z4 today. Very happy!

Now back to the alloys. If the offset et on them is not completely correct can I just use spacers to correct it? What is the standard offset all round for tyres the same width.

What o you guys think? Should I o for these 18"

If it were my money the genuine MV2's all the way, contact the seller to see if they are staggered, if they are genuine then the offset will be right anyway good luck. My fear over the CSL's, yes they are lovely, but you never know what legislation is coming around the corner and it really isn't worth the risk.

The mv2 don't look staggered from the picture. Waiting on the seller to get back to me about width now. What is standard offset anyway? Also what is the new legislation coming?

Also say another set of mv2 18 inch 8j like new no tyres 100 quid. Think that's good price.

Also with regards to xenon lights if I fit the 55quid hid directones will my car fail mot? And is it quick enough to change before mot back.

Final question will this cable fit my car to have aux input. I thought all 2007 z4 had as standard but I didn't see it in mine.

Uses the same offset or as close as to the BMW csl wheels ? Yes Or no.

Briefly, the new MOT will ensure that car is per type approval, ergo standard and without modification, you can see alloy wheels being a very easy spot, so when this comes into force and it will, those non OEM wheels might be worth diddly squat and then see who's laughing

Any one know what to look for when buying these alloys? Will a buckle or crack be obvious? Or hard to spot. Obviously general wear and tear can be seen easily enough.
 
Going to get my 18 inch mv2 alloys at the weekend what size will of tyre will I fit
. I am going 225 width but not sure what to go for with the Profile? My 16imch are 55 do. Need to go lower cause the rim is bigger. What is best profile with 18imch so my speedo is still correct? 225 13?

I think 40 or 45 is standard profile for 225 18s. Lower profile - harder ride. 13 sounds a little low :D
 
If its 225 then the profile is 40 if the rears are 255 then it's 35, would recommend Goodyear F1 A2 very grippy but quiet. Budget tyres Falken's are a forum favourite as are the vredestein.

Cheers I saw that about the falkens.

I am just going for 225 all round I only have the 2.0i no need for 255 rear. If I went for 35 other than making the ride harder which I don't mind would it put my speedo out?
 
Yes there will be an error on the speedo, but why are you going 35 and not 40, which is a common size for 225 and btw the correct profile for 225 on a 19" rim is 35
 
Okay the difference in diameter is roughly 25 mm, giving you a speedo error of around 4% greater than 225/40/18. The big difference is cost, expect to pay up to 30% extra on the same brand

225/35/18 Goodyear F1V2 @ £160 each
225/40/18 Goodyear F1V2 @ £136 each

Both fitted, also remember that the wheels are 25mm less diameter and ths they will look smaller in the arch
