Seen these advertised in the latest TopGear mag, apparently it is a ring that fits over the lip of the wheel and prevents kerbing.Limited sizes at the moment 15",16",17" but more sizes to follow, they do them in various colours.http://www.wheelsprotector.co.uk.Not my cup of tea but just i'd mention them somebody might be interested.

yeah, i also saw these. Interesting, not sure why they are only in smaller sizes, how difficult can it be to produce larger ones ? the bigger the alloy wheel, the more expensive it is, so surely they should have started 18 & 19", as these sizes are almot the norm now...

I thought about making these about 3 years ago and found out someone already had the patent and was putting them into production. Looks like its all setup and selling. I always miss the boat on these ideas, i'll never be a millionaire at this rate :( :D

An uptodate version of the white wall tyre :D

They seem a bit naff.

Ie, you don't see curb marks and scuffs unless you get up close, and if you get up close to one of these and you drive into curbs you will just have a nice looking wheel with a plastic band on it that looks scuffed instead, which imho looks worse!

Also, on a 108 at least, it's just another place for salt/water to get stuck in between and damage the alloy/lacquer between, and possibly on other wheels too if there is any damage at all. Unless you removed/cleaned under them often it's just another place for corrosion to start/work.

I'd just try to learn to drive better :D

I bought silver 17", and they are great! When I put them on my wheels, my wheels look bigger, and it looks like part of wheels. They don't look cheap because they are the same color as wheels, so there are no difference. Only if you know what to look you can see them. I am very careful when I park my car, I don't need to worry from now. It's really useful thing which save wheels.
